How many People Bought a Tablet of some kind?

And what kind do you have do you like it ?

I Just got my Tablet today and i think its neat and handy
Mine is a Android 2.2 , 1 GHZ Dual Core

Mr Pheer 11-30-2011 07:30 PM

I got an iPad when they first came out, I still use it daily.

candyflip 11-30-2011 07:35 PM

We have 4 HP Touchpads and 1 Nook Color. All purchased for less than the cost of the iPad my Dad got for his birthday.

My 2 and 3 year olds have each claimed a Touchpad for their own, and my youngest (13 months) is quite proficient with the Nook.

All of them are hacked and overclocked running CyanogenMod 7.1.

ExpliciteDesign 11-30-2011 07:36 PM

I realy like my ipad :)

PornHero 11-30-2011 07:57 PM

I am a bit of a tablet junkie.

I have the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab (1st edition) and an iPad 2. I enjoy them both for different reasons.

The 7" tab allows me to slide it into a coat pocket and take it with me wherever I go. The Android OS with all its customizations is a joy to use. I just pop my blackberry's sim card in and I can make phone calls or surf the web on my existing data plan. 7" is great as an ereader and to play movies on while I work. :thumbsup I plan on replacing it with the new slimmer and sleeker Samsung Galaxy 7.0 Plus when it comes out in a few weeks.

The iPad2 's large screen is great for couch surfing, iOS 5 is smooth as a fresh-shaved vagina and the App store selection kicks ass. :thumbsup

Best of both worlds. :winkwink:

P.S. I actually bought a Blackberry Playbook a few days ago because of the recent $300 price drop but I returned it after one day. It was fine the first day but then the battery simply wouldn't recharge no matter how long I had it plugged in. The Playbook's OS had some obvious glitches. RIMM really screwed themselves releasing a half-baked tablet.

BIGTYMER 11-30-2011 08:08 PM

Love me iPad and iPhone. :)

Probably not the intended use.

LiveDose 11-30-2011 08:16 PM

My wife got me an ipad for Father's Day last year. The first time I saw it advertised I thought it was stupid. Now it gets used as much if not more than any of the computers in our house.

If you have young kids it is a priceless tool.

2MuchMark 11-30-2011 08:18 PM

My GF bought an iPad 2 about 1 month ago and never puts it down. NEVER.

anexsia 11-30-2011 08:23 PM

My girl is buying me a Kindle Fire for Christmas apparently

I guess its no surprise then .... I am slightly annoyed with the amazon app store ....

edgeprod 11-30-2011 08:55 PM

I have a ton of them. Android tablets, iPads, etc. Planning to get another one when I win the Business or Educational thread contest for November.

raymor 11-30-2011 08:57 PM

How does an Android tablet compare to ab Android phone like the one I'm using to make this post? Does the larger screen or another feature make a huge difference?

Phoenix 11-30-2011 09:02 PM

have an ipad...use it to test some stuff
and its great for my son

bDok 11-30-2011 09:22 PM

iPad 1 here. Would like the 2. Just don't need it as the 1 is still working just fine. I'll most likely upgrade when the next one comes out.

AdultKing 11-30-2011 09:38 PM

Almost all my close personal friends have iPads either the iPad 1 or 2.

I think in Australia the iPad has a much better marketshare, when I am out at cafes locally I see lots of iPads , maybe one or two Android devices but mostly iPads.

Australians are quick to adopt technology, tablets are fairly commonly seen on trains, planes, in cafes etc.

xarizmendi 12-01-2011 12:21 AM

I have a xoom with honeycomb on, I can go anywhere and do pretty much I Need to do at any given time.
And I just got my wife the new Sony S tablet, which the form factor was a lil weird but you get used to and the screen is way better than the xoom.
But to be honest im using them a lot more than I ever thought I would.

brassmonkey 12-01-2011 12:22 AM

oscer 12-01-2011 12:24 AM

all you need to do is go to the market and click on install on the apps you already have, specially if you have the same version of android in both of your devices

I highly suggest buying an HP Touchpad on Craigslist. Until someone figures out how to root the Fire, it is pretty lame. Very tethered to the Amazon App Store. Even though it runs on Android it lacks a ton of the Android stuff you can get on an Android phone.

MasturbateFun 12-01-2011 02:53 AM

iPad 2 is the shit. Don't be cheap and get something else. I've never seen an android tablet anywhere "in real life". And I've never met an iPad owner who didn't love theirs.

CurrentlySober 12-01-2011 02:54 AM

I saved up for ages and bought some 'Junior Aspirin' tablets, if that helps?

I'm not a fan of the Fire at all, but it is already rooted and someone has Cyanogenmod running on it already. Only a matter of time before it is available for everyone.

so you now have a tab working as a phone??? txt mesgs ect???

Diomed 12-01-2011 06:36 AM

I got the 32gig HP touchpad, only because of the $150 price tag.

I have no idea why someone would spend $500 on a tablet, as you can get an incredible laptop for that price.

My girl has an iPad 1, and I can honestly say the Touchpad outperforms it.

There is no real reason to have a tablet, other than for when your laying in bed at night and something crosses your mind, or a little shopping or light browsing, perhaps e-mail.

No reason to make it perform like a laptop for heavy functions.

Why am I not suprised to hear a Mac fanboy say that? Let me guess, you also voted for Obama without knowing who he was running against, didn't you?

I beg to differ Jimmy, the lap top is just too cumbersome to take to the shitter, and the iphone, just too small. The smart people at Apple knew that there was a void to be filled by offering an alternative to the magazine that you've read way too many times, and the shampoo bottle that you've already memorized. :winkwink:

sperbonzo 12-01-2011 08:22 AM

I got my wife the ipad 2 as an early holiday gift surprise last week.... between our new baby and the damn ipad, I haven't seen much of her since!

.:1orglaugh

Actually though, I have to say that I love the stupid thing also. The OS is just so damn smooooooooooooooth.....

Btw MasturbateFun I'm just teasing so hopefully you don't take it personally. There's nothing wrong with being a fan, of Mac or most anything else. I'm a fan of the Denver Broncos myself. Fandom is bad only when it leads us to keep making silly choices on stuff that actually matters. It's cool to be a fan of Mac, Windows, Linux, or Android. Fandom, unthinking support, for Bush or Obama is when it staets to matter a little bit.

spazlabz 12-01-2011 08:45 AM

I got one of those cheap chinese knock off androids and I have to say that other than a battery life of about 15 minutes, it does what I need it to do. I just wish there was an ICQ app for it other than the one it has which sucks. I used it once and never used it again

Yes, once you drop in your sim card the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab operates just like a full featured Samsung Galaxy S phone. Phone calls, text messages, internet, front and back cameras... it even can act as a wifi hub and share the internet access with other devices when I am out of the house. You can also hook up a bluetooth headset and keyboard to it. :thumbsup

The North American versions of the Tab were sold with the phone features disabled but it is a simple process to flash and enable it.
I did it in a few minutes after reading the XDA thread:

If it's Android there are several apps that will do ICQ, as well as other instant messaging protocols. I have Meebo, which seems to be the most popular, after having used a different one before.

Touche. Palin?! McCain picked Palin! What the hell was he thinking? I wondered if he was at a retreat with members of the pothead caucus when he made that pick.

I've only had my iPad for a few days now.

I have yet to realize its full potential. Maybe I'll use it a lot, maybe it'll become a paperweight.
