Obama - 4 more years looks assured now.
If he does nothing, the economy will continue to improve. Then he gets four more years as people will be fat and happy. I sort of thought this might happen when he got in as we were in the shitter so odds were we would get better.

Unemployment numbers are looking better. Only double the normal, I think. Not bad considering how in the shitter the economy went. That will help him get votes.
I had a friend that sold his house and moved down here in 2007 and lived off savings. He tried for two years to get a job and finally went back to Richmond. Miserable there he came back a few weeks ago and had a good job within a week or two. |
Even though he completely lied the last time round? I bet the same fucking morons will be out saying how he is change when in reality he is just a war monger.

In order to keep the campaign on message, Carville hung a sign in Bill Clinton's Little Rock campaign headquarters that read: |
The unemployment number is a good thing for him today, but we are a long ways from the election. If the number is in the mid to low 7%'s when the election comes he will be very hard to beat. He can simply say: "the republicans fucked up the economy, I made the tough choices that have us back on track and growing. I got Bin Laden. I got Gadaffi out of office. I got us out of Iraq and on a plan to get us out of Afghanistan. I passed the healthcare bill. Do you want to move forward with me, or go back to the same policies that the republicans used to nearly destroy this country."
Of course it isn't all true or accurate, but he will make is sound good and politics is about what you can convince people is the truth not what really is the truth. |
Remember when voting mattered? Neither do I.

how they calculate employment numbers is a joke and scam. i remember - when i could find the data - about half a million people per month gave up looking for work and were not counted in the stats. was like that steady for a few years. i am not able to find that data any more.
how they counted the unemployed changed under reagan or clinton i can't remember. hard to debate when them premises are fundamentally deceptive. |

Obama is a long shot at this point. 1. The economy is the main issue and it still sucks. People are pissed off. 2. Electing "the first black President" has been done. It's no longer a glass ceiling. The youth is de-energized. 3. Obama lied about more stuff than Nixon and Clinton combined. Barney Frank's odds were better, and he threw in the towel. :) |
The only thing that is going to fix our financial problems is time. This isn't a four year problem.

The headline unemployment number sucks slightly less, but while 120,000 were hired, 330,000 more gave up looking. Real unemployment therefore got worse by 210,000. The headline number is one thing, but the millions of unemployed people, including the 330,00 who just now gave up looking, know it just keeps getting worse.
Also, wages fell by 1.5% last month, an annualized reduction in wages of 18%. When even the people who have jobs see their pay falling by 18% per year while Obama gives billions to his buddies, they know what's going on. Voters aren't THAT clueless. |

no idea where raymor got his stats from... :helpme |
The three month growth is low by 500k the wall street journal was wondering why. By low I mean understated. The last three months were revised up too. Unemployment numbers are not perfect but they are getting better and that has momentum.
|
nothing is fixed the whole system is bad, it doesn't matter who is in charge as long as things are the same and people are being born and then spending their 18-65+ years paying off debts
that's no way to live |
