Beta launch of multi-faceted tube search

Hey all,

I'm looking to get some feedback/meet some interested parties for our new site.

The idea was to bring some mainstream ecommerce functionality into a multi-faceted search across tube sites. Tube searches are not new but the tag/categorisation structure and breakdown of porn scene attributes is something I've always felt was lacking. It's tough since the use of slang, spam tagging and simple lack of tags/descriptions on many a movie makes it hard to get a uniform structure across them all. The beta launch incorporates a thesaurus layer to try and make sense of tags/titles/categoires and form them into a user-interface. In the form of a detailed search filter.

So the site is http://www.rampantspider.com

Currently indexing the main tubes but interested to work with tube owners if they would like to be indexed so can be filtered.

In terms of ads, we want to keep it clean, no flash banners or pop-unders etc. Just a text link to target words or phrases in the user-journey. This way it's more apparent, less-diluted and more useful for both the advertiser and user. Only ever 1 link per page view (well repeated twice top and bottom of pagination where the google plus button is)

It's very early days but we would like to start selling 3 months slots at low prices once we have a gauge on traffic and accrued some stats. Starting with time-based slots targetting specific searches before developing a cpc system. I suppose the advantage of selling early is folks get a good deal if the site grows rapdily as they've secured their slots and we get initial cash boost but disadvantage is it's still a bit of a punt.

Would really welcome your suggestions on this approach and hopefully be good to strike up some relationships going forward.

All the best,
David

Nice ! How do you get the data? Do you have ICQ?

The data is mainly from feeds initially.

It then goes through some scripts (depending on the site) to obtain further data by reading the html for the vid page.

Then a few more scripts run to process and sort against a custom thesaurus table. It's a bit of a process but we can get the indexing done twice a day without too much a performance hit. It's not easy, a real challenge! It's not just scripts, you need a data layer of human interpretation and analysis of how you categorize but that's the jist of it!

We're willing to work with other content producers who have short clips on offer to link directly through - as long as we can get some tagging data, thumbnails and the clip is worthwhile for the user then by all means we'll help!

Need traffic for ads...

So you basically link people to illegal porn?

great idea. take the syndication to the next level. i would suggest though playing the video embedded on your site, so user doesnt have to leave

Many a discussion on this one - the issue is that the sites have popup triggers which kind of goes against the usability we'd like to promote but the user gets them anyway I suppose. We're aiming to consolidate this area in a new way with the tube sites when the traffic picks up.

Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated.

Not quite, multi-faceted is slightly different :)
