Why You Don't Need to Buy an XXX Domain
http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente...xx_domain.html

Adult businesses that can afford to litigate don't need to either.

Smaller guys or those with a lot of SEO names may have a problem ...

Google will not be showing preference to the extension in SERPS. That is for sure.

You can find it here: http://www.about.xxx/policies/

marlboroack 12-06-2011 08:45 PM

The same bots that predicted the end of the world said .xxx will make millions. Figured you would like to know that.

Cool cant wait to enforce this small section for anyone who infringes on trademarks :)

SmutHammer 12-07-2011 12:32 AM

ummm am I reading this right? according to your tos, anyone that puts "any content" on a .xxx you own full rights to do what you want with?!?!?

fogfever 12-07-2011 02:20 AM

the average surfer hasn't heard of .xxx and probably never will.

I've been published in BusinessInsider twice - tempting to try and run an article past them titled "Just Don't F*cking Buy .XXX - There's No Reason To". Half-kidding of course, but seriously, a larger brand could absolutely ream anyone who tries to fuck with their brand on .xxx and smaller brands don't really have to worry because it's unlikely anyone cares enough about them to get the .xxx equivalent and wreak havoc. Some generics might have an initial hype-filled day in the sun before the type-ins wear off since everyone already knows where to find free porn. It was mostly domainers that snagged the best of those already anyways due to backroom deals with the registry.

This just really seems like a pointless extension especially with the state of the adult industry. 5-10 years ago I could see a point to getting a .xxx, but not now.

Lawley doesn't need Adult to pick it up, he will make his money over the years using the fear factor.

That's not the least bit surprising since AVN, the leading adult industry journal, has gotten it wrong themselves. There was a graphic at the top of AVN's homepage with "FSC vs. XXX.com", although the content of their article was correct.

How much of an idiot do you have to be to not realize he's been saying that same lame shit since day 1 of his blog? His agenda and that of google is to steer people into creating content rich, useful websites and discourage spammers.

Some of you fucking morons act as if writing great text matters. It doesn't. It never has. Why do you think it matters? Go write 1000 blog posts about teen sex and you think you are going to be number 1 for that term? The top 10? Of course not.. .the same tgps that still rank well with barely a single word on the page... that have been in the top 10 for that term for a decade already will still be there or be replaced with a tube with no text who has a better linking strategy and seo network behind it.

In the last 10 years that everyone has talking about all the new changes in SEO, the SEO/Blackhat community has still been doing 90% of the same shit they were doing 10 years ago.

Clowns.
