What's your ultimate king?

What you don't have.

If you have content and a paysite, then traffic is your king. Well actually it's not. It's getting joins.

If you have traffic, content is your king. Because you have to send it to a guy with content. Without him and his content making joins, you don't have much. Even if you're selling ads or traffic. You need the guy with content, whose getting joins to give you money so you can eat.

Yes anyone can get content, anyone can get traffic. The key is getting joins at less than the cost of getting the content and the traffic.

Ultimately everyone's king is $$$$$$$$$s and the more the merrier.

I know people with so much traffic, who can't get a sign up. And me with so much content and I can't get a join, in fact only run my sites at a loss to help out Phatservers pay their bills. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

So ultimately everyone's king in business is money.

Someday, maybe, perhaps, ah fuck it probably never.

People might realize that all you sell in this biz is perception.

Yes, what ever you don't have enough of is always going to be your personal king.

I don't have enough good health, still alive to annoy Roald, and that's my king. Not annoying Roald, that's easy. Good health will always be my king from now.

Jeff, you're wrong. Perception is the first thing you sell. If you don't deliver on that perception. Then it was a con. And that's not selling.

We were selling on perception 10 years ago and the consumers soon learned to be wary or perceptions. Today surfers are the hardest to convince. Now Roald will tell me he does great convincing 1 in 1,000 to spend $30. :1orglaugh

Paul, what you dont seem to get is that I agree on some of the things you say it just gets boring hearing it day in day out. I dont reply in your threads cause I am annoyed, I reply to make fun of you. You are like a CD with only 3 songs on it. The songs can be great but if you put it on repeat and hear it day in day out it will get old and boring. Just like you ;)

I would of done if we were still worried about making money from it. Eva has a great job and even being head hunted. I have enough money to last me the rest of my life and actually a bank account that grows. With the little bit that comes in.

So bothering to redesign anything isn't on the cards.

When Damian get's back from Thailand he can remind s all how broke I am.

Roald, put me on ignore or are you just getting your signature in?

I'm just trolling. :thumbsup

It's 'would have', Paul, not 'would of'.

You are telling me I am wrong based on the dozens of sales you have seen in the last decade.

1996 conversions are available today, and I will take 1:1000 on 100,000 unique over 1:1 on 5 every day of the week.

Surfers do not stay a member of a pay site because "they are getting what they want" except in only the rarest cases. 90% of retention is because people do not pay attention to their credit card statements.

99% of sales is because surfers *think* they can find something they can't get for free (perception), or they do not know how to work the internets.

OldJeff 12-08-2011 06:18 AM

You are right about one thing though Paul, Money is now, always has been, and always will be KING

Such a small box you think from.

My 1:1 was often for $1,000s not 1:1,000 for $30.

Which is why I'm retired.

So what you say, also applies to what you're selling in your signature. It's no bloody good, but you sell the perception it works. :thumbsup

OK you win this one. :1orglaugh

Perception worked in 1996. After continually finding that the members area didn't match the tour, the surfers started to stay just that. Surfers.

And good luck with the people forgetting to cancel line. Seriously, rethink that one.

Math Quiz - Careful this is a word problem, not sure if they had those in the one room schoolhouse days.

Which scenario yeilds the most money 5 sales a day worth $1000 each, or 5,000 sales a day worth $30 each.

FWIW - I could retire on yesterdays dollars.

Producer selling content to magazines decades ago VS paysites selling memberships on the internet today. I don't think there could be a comparison that makes less sense. Bravo.

Pretty sure in another post you basically admitted you didn't average much more than $70,000 a year throughout your career. Too lazy to go find the post.

You're retired because you're old, not because you made millions of dollars. And your wife still works to pay your bills. When does she get to retire?

papill0n 12-08-2011 12:11 PM

so in summary

you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

everything you say is completely hypothetical

you're broke and the only way you get wood is by annoying younger guys on gfy
