Lots of good responses here.
I have my reasons for using different ones. I use windows as most ever app runs on there without much hacking. Mac OS for all the media work. Linux (like right now) for all my internet goings because it is a little less worrisome of getting it in trouble over other OSes. |

Scientific Linux is a kind of misleading name. Scientific Linux is Red Hat debranded, just like CentOS. When CentOS chose to debrand and compile a 5.x update first and delay 6.0, we used Scientific Linux on one of our servers and it's identical to RHEL or CentOS, other than the logos. From their FAQ: Q. What is Scientific Linux? A. Scientific Linux is in essence, a commercial enterprise linux distribution, recompiled. What we have done is taken the source code from Enterprise (in srpm form) and recompiled them. The resulting binaries (now in rpm form) are then ours to do with as we desire as long as we follow the license from that original source code, which we are doing. We then bundle all these binaries into a linux distribution that is as close to the commercial enterprise distribution as we can get it. |

I've got dual screen setup for all of them (well hook them up if I so choose). On the mac parallels is running. iMac 27" (intel i7 2.93, 8GB RAM, 1GB Radeon) with the mac I've got adobe master collection and a bulk video converter, with the windows portion there is a bulk image resizer/renamer that I use for blogging. The nice thing about parallel is it's a little more seamless throwing files between the virtual windows and the mac OSX. |
