Someone at a forum said it was "pure evil" so of course I downloaded the audiobook.

Has it been called that? I guess it could be lol. But it doesn't relate to or mention hip hop or music in any way of course (for those looking to read it).

Learned some things from it but mostly throughout reading it I noticed it just reinforced how I naturally think..

When I was inside, someone sent me a 'Photohop User' magazine... I wasn't allowed to have it, cause there was a feature in there on a 'comic book' plugin that made pics look like comic book art.

One of the MANY examples they used was of some guy dressed up as a 'Miner 49er' Old Wild West type character holding an 'Old West' 6 shooter... And 'Pictures of GUNS' were not allowed !

So I was not allowed the magazine ! I even went so far as to request that they simply ripped out that page, and allowed me to read the rest of what essentially was a training gude for photoshop techniques... But of course... NO...

They took great delight in throwing the entire magazine in the trash, while I watched...

I could understand it had someone sent me the latest issue of 'Guns & Ammo'... But photoshop? Oh Dear... :Oh crap

there was a killer in florida who killed a cop, it was brought up that he had the book in his cell that he ordered from amazon.

Lol, killers are obviously crazy people with a lot on their mind and not much to do. The book is not going to make you a crazy killer, it doesn't even have anything to do with something like that.. more like a quick history lesson on the strategies of kings and such..

50 Cent also partnered up with Robert Green for a book. 50th Law Of Power, about fear. Not nearly as interesting as this one but eh..

I was going to say, who gives a shit.. Cause people in prisons should have no rights, they were put there for a reason.... Then I thought about the pretty decent people that find themselves in prison for simple facts of 'non payment of parking tickets' or speeding.. something simple, maybe even manslaughter after knocking someone over, an accident which could have not been avoided... fraud, lots of reasons to be punished in prison, yet are law abiding & probably nice friendly people :2 cents:

there is nothing wrong with that book, it sounds "evil", but it's far from it... it's not unlike "art of war", which too sounds "evil", but is actually quite educational....

A few years back Brian gave me a copy of this book. (Thanks again Brian) Since then I've referred it only to 2 other people. 3XTom liked it so much he now has the audio version as well.

For the same reason that I would never have posted about it on GFY.

I don't think the book is even the slightest bit evil. Most of it just reinforced my existing way of thinking and I think it's absolutely crazy that such a book could be banned whereas The Autobiography Of Malcolm X by noted sociopath Malcolm X is apparently quite popular.

To quote Donald Sutherland: "I trust everyone. It's the devil inside them I don't trust."

I see it the same way with this book. It is what you make of it.

There are many places where a sociopath can find inspiration. Case in point. While Jules is fictional, the human element is real.

It's a fantastic book. If you choose to use the knowledge for evil purposes, that's on you.

The funny thing is, people who get into this kind of shit don't realize they are being manipulated into playing someone else's game, or their "perception" of the game.

You often talk about others being manipulated and being sheep. Have you ever thought that you are a manipulated sheep as well, just a different color?

And your premise is wrong. You basically just described everything in life. People read books, take courses, attend seminars to learn a skill that somebody else knows based on what that person has learned. If you go to be a doctor, you are being "manipulated" by someone else's knowledge.

This book is essentially a psychology book based on experiences, tests, and history. Nowhere does it say "do this and this to get that." Instead, it shares anecdotes on how one person accomplished one thing, it broke down the path of the accomplishment, and encouraged the reader to create a similar goal but the reader would still need to find their own path.

No premise here, just a fact. The reason this book is not allowed in prisons (and rightfully so) is that it nurtures and enables sociopathic criminal behavior.

You understand this is the reason, right?

After all, it is called "The 48 LAWS Of Power." Doesn't leave much room for interpretation does it?

At the end of a day it's just another so called "empowerment" book, but in my opinion, and an opinion shared by many, this book is more proof as to how geniuinely fucked up society is right now.

The ends justify the means, do whatever it takes, fuck your friends if that's what it takes.

The message is pretty twisted.
