Fuck Me For Buying .xxx

The "told you so" and "you get what you deserve" are incoming, I know :1orglaugh

So I order 4 .xxx domains, and after a week of contacting prbot, icm form support, and godaddy support, I finally receive my application for membership into the sponsored community. In the email, support says:

Quote:

You misread the email. You were to receive an application to become a member within 24 hours of purchasing a domain. I have resent the email to invite you to be a member.
What email? That's the whole point, I never received on. But whatever, I click the link to the application and on the second step I receive an error notice:

Quote:

A member has already applied using this email address.
Oh really? How lovely. So, after a week of domains that are absolutely worthless and just sitting in my account frozen, I get blamed for misreading an email that never came and find out that I still can't get my domains to resolve because another member apparently used my email address.

It's also kind of strange that support doesn't use their names. It's only from "support." It appears even ICM employees don't have the courage to admit they are apart of ICM.

Anyway, bring on the hate :)

Thank you sir :)

I'm a gambling man, and have bet more than $400 on riskier wagers than this. Although, I at least got to see some action out of those bets. This one is just sitting stagnated, and quite boring.

Another .xxx success story.

It seems the general consensus by those who have actually bought one is, buy a .xxx = wait for disappointment, resentment, and regret.

nextri 12-14-2011 03:23 PM

use the forgot password feature??

I know there are many in the industry that are against the whole thing, and I understand their reasons. And of course, I expect to get grief for buying a few domains. Even though some of those who have taken such a public stand against .xxx probably own a few themselves.

But, spending a few hundred bucks on something that may take off seemed to be worth it. If not, oh well, some money lost. I also like a lot of how they plan to operate the extension, their marketing of the extension, and the opportunity to buy domains that were being squatted on in the .com extension.

But currently, yes, disappointment, resentment, and regret. I also believe they should have some balls and start attaching names to support emails. It makes ICM and their employees seem as though they are afraid or embarrassed to reveal who they really are and doesn't provide for a good customer support experience.

I started out some time ago saying I would never buy a .xxx domain. But, over time I moved to being on the fence about it, neither for or against. I understand the argument against ICM, but I also see some positives. I'm still on the fence, but what's a couple hundred bucks?

I think godaddy has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Honestly considering it at this point. ICM support sucks, Godaddy can't do anything, not too many options from here.

Most of the 'investors' running around buying .xxx's I know of are actually not in the adult industry whatsoever.

I definitely know of private equity firms that will end up snagging a portfolio or two of .xxx's but ultimately, this looks like a not so great deal. The "getting in quick" part is nonexistent, and when you have your own industry saying "ehhh its not a good idea guys.." that's when you really should consider listening. Reminds me of the .mobi's and that oh so amazing idea.. those were way more appealing even when everyone knew they were destined for major fails.

Haha, luckily, unlike epass, my domains really were in motion and the problem was solved. It was a technical error that was frustrating, but resolved.
