The Sorrow Of North Koreans

North Koreans weep hysterically over Kim Jong-Il's death. This footage was taken from North Korean state media and it's so unbelievably creepy.

They do that out of fear. These are a group of people who have been terrorized for their entire lives. It's all for show.

this obviously proves he was a successful dictator who died peacefully and people cry after him, at least they didn't sodomize him with a knife, killed him and displayed his dead body in a fridge.

I'm pretty sure it runs much deeper than fear. They don't even know they have it bad. With no frame of reference to judge the outside World by, they've been told their whole life they have it good. Most of them believe that World outside of North Korea is far worse off. It's probably genuine despair because they simply don't know any better. :2 cents:

CNN had an interesting clip last night were "blind people were given sight" and as soon as they took their bandages off they "thanked their great leader for giving them sight". Seems that this was a common eye problem that in the real world is prevented and the treatment they received was rather common. But in North Korea they don't understand the concept of a better standard of living and having basic health care like the rest of the world has.

If you want to see them really cry, let them receive TV broadcast from the outside world and let them watch a few episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

I think you're probably right. Good analysis.

I do know that I felt sorry for them when I saw this on the news. Not because of empathy for their grief, but sorry that they're so weird, and prisoners in their own country.

Thats not true at all. This is very common. Stalin murdered 10s of millions of his own people but the cult of personality he built was so powerful that most did not believe he had done anything and when he died, the entire nation froze and cried because they literally were not sure how they could continue without stalin.

N. Korea in terms of building that cult have been many times more aggressive than the communists ever were.

It's very naive to believe they are not seriously crying for their loss.
