How do you PHP redirect based on Verotel cookie?

When surfers click "join" I want to use PHP to redirect all Verotel surfers to a Verotel signup page, to assure all my Verotel affiliates get sales credit. Anyone know the code do this?

grumpy 12-20-2011 01:10 PM

whats a verotel surfer?

k0nr4d 12-20-2011 01:14 PM

If the server comes in via a verotel.com link, the cookie is set at the verotel domain and you cannot access it at your domain.

garce 12-20-2011 01:15 PM

I don't know. But typing in stupid font colours and sizes is stupid.

blackmonsters 12-20-2011 01:21 PM

Just use a different tour for different billers.

Just copy tour pages into "v" folder and change tour link in biller admin to domain.com/v

End of problem.

Good advice. I've been doing that. Just thought it would be easier having one version of my site and a simple redirect to a different signup page based on Verotel affiliate cookie.

I mean setting a cookie for surfers sent by a Verotel affiliate.

Instead of making a copy of my site for Verotel, when the Verotel affiliate surfer clicks join, the cookie is read, and they are sent to the Verotel signup page, instead of CCBill
:thumbsup

Forget it!

You can't read the verotel cookie!

PERIOD!

:1orglaugh

The best you could do is make a verotel landing page that, when loaded, gives the
surfer your cookie that says "surfer=verotel".

But that means having a separate tour page which is exactly what you don't want to do.
So go ahead and copy the pages like I said because you are going to copy the page
no matter what you do.

Think about this :

What if you could read the verotel cookie on your site? Then you could also read
the surfer's bank cookie on your site.
And since that surfer was logged into his bank when he surfed your site
and his bank is using a cookie session to log the surfer into his account, you would be
able to read his cookie and create that cookie on your browser and then go to his
account and steal all of his money.

That doesn't happen because the surfer's browser will only send the bank's cookie to
the bank's domain.

Now. Don't make me come back into this thread again! :1orglaugh

I don't know what they would tell him but :

He can make his verotel landing link a script that sets his domain cookie
to "surfer=verotel" and then redirect to his regular tour and then have his join page
loaded by a script that reads his cookie and chooses the correct join form.

I just don't think that is less work than copying the tours.

If verotel has/had a "join page script" on their domain that would allow him to choose any
join form from his domain, then that script would work as the join page.

Only a verotel script on the verotel domain is going to be able to
read the actual cookie set by the verotel link though.

blackmonsters 12-21-2011 01:09 PM

Add to above :

If you do that then you need to track the IP address also
to load the correct form since surfers can have cookies disabled.

We're taking care of it for him.

I have sent you 2 emails but you do not reply. I guess you do not really want to be helped.

RonTheDon 12-28-2011 12:57 AM

What I would do is get the HTTP_REFERER, parse it and store the data in a session cookie.

In PHP, I would use the session cookie data to compare against and decide which form to display.

If you're still having issues later, let me know.

The http referrer will be his affiliate's webpage. Not verotel or CCBill.

So you are going to compare the affiliate's referrer to what? A database of
affiliates that use verotel and CCBill and all links on their domains?

I don't think so.

He better just let me do this.

My last post was what came to mind with the little information I had, or perhaps I missed something.

For a developer, something like this shouldn't be difficult at all and I'm sure you have it under control.

Thanks for the emails. I haven't posted my email address on here where did you send them? What was the title of the emails? I haven't received them. I searched my SpamArrest for keywords GFY , Chmod, & Ray no results. My ICQ is 265912752

I sent an email to Blackmonsters last night at 7:58 pm and waiting to hear back. The title of the email was "RE: PHP redirect based on Verotel cookie" I offered Ray $$$ to be helped too so yes I'm here to be helped :thumbsup

I sent you an email last night. Look for tube at econfirmpro dot com in your list.

If you have windows7 live email then look in the junk folder.
A lot of stuff will go there.

Ugh

Note to self: Check spam folder in original Gmail account, not just the catchall account where I have everything forwarded.

I just replied to the email you sent last night, and the three that Ray had sent. All were in the spam folder of the original Gmail account. Sorry for the confusion :thumbsup

You should have a look at Sliiing

it may be the solution to your current issue :2 cents:

EukerVoorn 12-29-2011 03:12 PM

I agree with blackmonsters, "Just use a different tour for different billers." For other solutions, what if the surfer has cookies disabled? Some surfers do that so cookie scripts will be useless. So "Just use a different tour for different billers." really is the best solution.
