thoughts on .XXX and ICM ?
so I just finally had the balls to go ahead and register an .XXX . Thinking in the years ahead who knows what our lawmakers will do and maybe make them mandatory for all adult sites.
but now after I completely paid for the domain registration and even have my domain hosting IP's in there... i'm gettin an email that I gotta register with ICM registry just to be able to have anything up on my site. watcha guys think about all this ? and what's the general consensus about .XXX's and the ICM run-around. maybe I shoudn't of even wasted money registering this crap... $99 a year is insane.. |
I've got a follow-up question as well.
Are we allowed to list an Adult site on our Facebook as one of our sites ? |
anybody... ?

question for everyone buying the .xxx? Are you just buying the spot and parking it, or are you going to really have your site on it?
The way I am looking at .xxx is a sneaky way to get all of us all in one room and close the door and turn on the gas and kill us all in one swoop... |
My thought is that it's a little bit overpriced tld and that .com is still the king. :)

I am setting up http://BuyItNow.xxx as an adult toy store using affiliates and just trying it out to send other traffic to our other sites. I will report back if indeed it works for us or not. I will say that the xxx extention does lend itself so people know what they will get when they go there and google, bing and yahoo have all included us in organic search so we got in just as well as our .com's but it has yet to be seen if it is profit or waste for us. Still working on BuyItNow.xxx

I think as others have said this is a way for service providers, be that mobile networks or internet TVs or whatever to separate us from the rest of the internet easily.. The more people start buying into this XXX thing the more leverage the powers that be will have to make it compulsory that all adult sites must be registered on XXX.
The way the web is going now is pretty scary, nomatter what it is in the world, if it makes money the corporations want control over it and it's a slow takeover with the internet but slowly they are pulling the wool over all our eyes by in-directly gaining control as the direct approach doesn't work. One day the shit will hit the fan and people will have to pay a subscription to their ISP or whoever just to be able to see Adult content.. Just like a SKY package, you will pay for "channel packages" and this will suck. I think it will only take 1 large greedy ISP to jump onboard this concept and the rest will follow suit. |
