I finally tried goat...

I'm a pretty adventurous eater and will generally try anything once.

I finally tried goat and it was pretty damn good. The boss took us out for lunch at an indian place that had curried goat. I gave it a try and it was really good. Slightly gamy and really tender.

Anyone else ever try goat? Eating it not fucking it...

PR_Glen 12-22-2011 01:08 PM

love it, i had uncles who raised goats. Love the cheese even more though.

funny that you have to stipulate eating it on here hehe

CurrentlySober 12-22-2011 01:14 PM

Never tried eating it, but would certainly give it a try, if the opportunity presented itself :)

RyuLion 12-22-2011 01:15 PM

That is pretty baaaaaaallsy! I see these people eating goat head soup on TV. I don't know how they do it.

ottopottomouse 12-22-2011 01:27 PM

Had it years ago when I stayed on a farm for a week. Can't remember what it tasted like at all.

Back when I used to eat meat, I've had Korean goat stew and Filipino caldereta. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Goat meat is actually quite eco-friendly. They are lawnmowers on four legs.

beerptrol 12-22-2011 01:33 PM

we had goats growing up and my dad still has goats. I like goats milk, cheese and bbq goat meat

Vendzilla 12-22-2011 01:35 PM

Monkey brains is better with the right garlic sauce

adulttemplatestudio 12-22-2011 01:41 PM

Goat is very nice :thumbsup
I've tried springbok, alligator (very similar to chicken) kangaroo all are very nice

VikingMan 12-22-2011 01:55 PM

Yep, rasing my kid on raw goat milk and we also eat the meat. Try a goat heart sometime:2 cents:

EukerVoorn 12-22-2011 01:59 PM

Never had goat but have tried lamb.. It's similar in flavor to deer meat IMO

ArsewithClass 12-22-2011 05:24 PM

Never tried it, interesting to hear it tastes slightly of game... Shall never say no to trying any food once :thumbsup

Mr Pheer 12-22-2011 05:33 PM

My uncle would BBQ a goat every 4th of July, and made homemade icecream. I always looked forward to that.

You're kidding right! LOL

OK, no more goat humor

Lamb does not taste like Venison.

Has anyone of you ever tried wild boar? I haven't tried it yet but apparently it tastes much better than porc and I love porc.

I've had it in France. Tough and they had cooked it with far too much garlic so the meat could have actually tasted of old shoes and I wouldn't have been able to tell :disgust

nikki99 12-23-2011 05:18 AM

Brent 3dSexCash 12-23-2011 05:24 AM

With all the shit goats eat...the meat isn't stringy and rough as hell?

Chosen 12-23-2011 09:31 AM

Haven't tried :)

cherrylula 12-23-2011 09:35 AM

Not sure if I have ever had goat, but have developed a taste for alligator which at first was a little different but it makes an awesome sausage for the gumbo. LOL

I guess I am not a vegetarian anymore if I eat alligators. :(

That's what I was expecting, but it turned out tender...so maybe they did something special with it

I've been very careful about asking what something is or how they get the flavors out of things I like, especially foreign dishes and sometimes, I don't really want to know ;-)

martinsc 12-23-2011 09:47 AM

this thread makes me hungry....!

facialfreak 12-23-2011 12:06 PM

Goat's head soup is amazing. Get over the bits of skin and the random eyeball, and you'll be good to go. Lots of Jamaican places around here. Nothing better than goat head soup followed by a big, spicy roti smothered in scotch bonnet sauce.

cooldude7 12-24-2011 05:00 AM

I am in india, and goat is regular here, now the prices are increased, but still it tastes fucking awesome.,

normal people eat 2 types of animal
1 is chicken 2 nd is goat.
you should try item called "kheema" or "keema" its my favourite one.,.,

Wilbo 12-24-2011 05:12 AM

I heard on some cooking show that goat was the most widely eaten meat on the planet. Plus it is lower in fat and better for you than beef and chicken.

John-ACWM 12-24-2011 06:59 AM

Not a great fan of it but of course the way it is being cooked matters the most.

Goats are actually one of the cleanest meats out there.... Polar opposite of pigs.

A touch of vinegar tenderizes goat meat if it's from an older goat.

Also when cooked slowly or in a pressure cooker it is "cut with a fork" tender.

Curried goat w/ white rice and plantain is one of my favourite meals
