I saw this a few months back on el Reg and it tweaked my interest.... now it looks like production is set for the end of January.

So, will you be getting the new hot PC called Raspberry Pi?

Can't wait to get my order in - deluxe model w/ internet... sounds like a great project for me and the kids

Dunno what school he went to to think children learnt programming at school in the 80s?

Was one room in my school with computers in that the teacher didn't know how to use. We played snake and used a very basic vector drawing program on them. Anybody who was actually doing programming was doing it at home.

That dude be full of shit. My high school had one computer room with a few machines that almost never worked. Didn't matter - no-one knew how to use them anyways.

huh? my secondary school years were from 1982-1989 and we had a computer room at the beginning that had 6 or so BBC micros that we learnt how to program a satellite dish to track satellites to receive weather patterns during. Then that evolved to a computer dept that had a command and control that the teacher operated so he could see what each pupil pair was doing....

ashamed to say it, but this was a private school though. Fucking Tories.

Some of us were playing on macs and pcs in school back in '81. California got lots of grants for that. Labs full of machines, I learned how to copy/paste when I was like 10 years old. :upsidedow
