Except you. You can still take them.

bronco67 12-27-2011 08:57 PM

I'm sure big pharma has nothing to do with that article.

next they'll tell us not eat green vegetables.

Jim_Gunn 12-27-2011 09:03 PM

Utter nonsense. There's people all over the world doing half-assed studies with flawed mothodologies. Read the comments below the article, there are a lot of good points made there. I'll listen to doctors who study fitness and aging, athletes and people who actually know about health than one study from some un-named French researchers.

oscer 12-27-2011 09:43 PM

Yea that article is crap .... they don't keep you from getting sick but they do help you if you are not eating correctly ....

Choker 12-27-2011 09:57 PM

Well I have read before at several sources (dont ask for urls, this was pre internet days) that vitamins are only absorbed and untilized by the body if from a fresh food source. IE in a pill form the body treats them different. Would be interesting to see a study showing that vitamins do indeed help the body.

I'm not taking them :pimp

that is definitely true for a handful of the stuff in multivitamins, but it doesn't really mean that you shouldn't take them either, they do have some things in them that do get absorbed and will only help supplement a healthy balanced diet.

getting most of it from fresh food and vegetables is obviously a better substitute when possible though, but that is hardly news to anyone i'm sure ;)

the daily mail is probably the worst paper in the UK. esp when it comes to science. (and being racist homophobic cunts)

My older daughter had to take anti-biotics 3 times suring the winter, my younger one at the age of 9 months then had to take anti-biotics 2 times, and my fiancee and me did the same for a few times too. We felt horrible, never had such a crappy winter EVER... :( I felt pain in my kidneys because of the too much crap I took. Needless to say, at some point i quitted taking the pills and nothing changed, I didnt feel worse or better...

This year we prepared for the worst but picked another strategy: we only take vitamins occasionally, lets say once every three weeks. This seems to work: all the 4 of us is Healthy and Happy so far.

Fuck artificial vitamins and fuck health industry!!!

How did you know?

My father in law has a number of health problems, including acid reflex. He also has a number of food items that he shouldn't eat, but being Italian, he can't resist. Two months ago he passed out cold, stroking out. Turns out he was suffering from vitamin deficiency - a number of important vitamins wasn't a part of his regular diet and it nearly fucking killed him.

i like articles:

1) coffee prevent heart attack

then few days later:

2) coffee can speed up heart attack

and similar shit...

Nydahl 12-28-2011 01:20 PM

well as I read it - this is what I call experts research and very valuable information :2 cents:

CurrentlySober 12-28-2011 01:21 PM

i cant afford vitamins... :(

Cory W 12-28-2011 02:23 PM

The study has holes in it. Vitamins, or nutrients from any source, do not absorb in most people on a western diet. That's likely the greater issue. If the group studied ate primarily as most westerners do, they aren't likely absorbing the nutrients fully.

DaddyHalbucks 12-28-2011 02:27 PM

Ask anyone who is genetically incapable of producing the "intrinsic factor" in their stomach, blocking B12 absorption.

Ask them if sublingual B12 or B12 shots "do nothing."

beerptrol 12-28-2011 02:55 PM

they probably studied people who eat nothing but junk food and then take a vitamin in the morning and expect to be healthy. kind of like ordering a superduper sized meal with a diet coke

That's really it in a nutshell. Its the double whammy, they have all this shit in their body beating them down, that same stuff doesn't allow nutrients to absorb, and then...wait for it...we can't understand why the US is leading the way in cancer cases!

brandonstills 12-28-2011 08:21 PM

Not putting this poison that passes for food in your body will have the most dramatic effect. Fuck pills! Take a look at the Paleo Diet for those who are serious about your health.
