So what do you think will the coming year hold for us?

In and out of business.

For me I see the Euro as being a crisis. Greece will get half it's debts written off and maybe still can't repay. Italy will stumble along till it hits the wall. Spain ad Portugal, wont help. Don't see it breaking the EU, the Euro it might break, are the rich countries willing to pay off the poor ones debts? Is the question. :(

SOPA if it passes will prove all the fear mongers wrong. Online porn will continue and it will not break the Internet as some tell us. :thumbsup

Capitalism is a system where people trade goods and services with each other.

What you are talking about is a strategy adopted by most of the world governments (debt financing). It is mathematically certain to eventually fail. But that has nothing to do with capitalism.

If you did not willing give your money to another in exchange for a good or service that YOU wanted, then it is not capitalism.

Capitalism didn't create the debt.

I agree we cannot keep building on debt. But go think of why those debt were incurred and where the money went. Don't think politicians or political spending. Think of who benefited from it in the end.

Think more about Consumerism.

I'm going to make a ten year prediction. I predict that in ten years the world will basically run out of oil.

I could be wrong. The US government made the same prediction in 1914, again in 1939, then again in 1951. I predict that the crisis is real THIS TIME.

Twenty years ago I, and many others, predicted that significant parts of the US coastline would be underwater by 2010 due to global warming. California is still here, so I guess I was wrong. I'm probably right this time, though.

The cheap oil is definitely going to run out. So will the oil guzzling countries tell their citizens to get smaller more fuel efficient cars or borrow more money to pay for the bill to support a life style they don't deserve?

Only one way that the massive borrowing is funding some people way beyond their means. Read JHC'c post and think what would happen to the economy if the banks kept 100% of the money deposited with them. Lending and borrowing fuels the economy/life style you enjoy. The problem is some enjoy an economy/life style way beyond what they deserve.
