LA to vote on mandatory condems in porn!

I would think this would be horrible for the industry.

Nothing reminds you how fake porn is then a glow in the dark condom.

Probably a little late. And really, it won't stop anyone. They will just go underground or move.

I thought that had already been struck down by the courts just a few weeks ago?

iggysick 12-29-2011 03:03 AM

I still cannot find news about this so fwiw, someone who lives over there in the valley mentioned to me they were trying to legalize prostitution over there. It would make sense why they are pushing this condom issue though. They kill the porn, but bank on the real business.... hooking. :1orglaugh

doubt it would happen though.

Nope.

There was a lawsuit filed to preempt the issue from being on the ballot, but the City Attorney's office didn't run the idea of filing the lawsuit by the City Council before filing their complaint, and that lack of communication has resulted in some internal wrangling at City Hall.

A couple of councilmen (Bill Rosendahl and Paul Koretz) objected to the City Attorney's action, saying that the move to preempt the ballot initiative amounted to an "anti-democratic message." They then filed an emergency motion to dismiss the City Attorney's lawsuit and ensure that the matter ends up on the ballot in June.

I think the current status of the case is that the City Attorney's office requested an expedited ruling from the court, which is expected to come in late January, leaving time for the measure to end up on the ballot after all, should the court rule that the proposal falls under the City's authority (as opposed to the State's authority via CAL-OSHA).

So far as I'm aware, the City Attorney has not withdrawn their complaint, nor has it been dismissed, but I might be an update or two behind on the story.

Is it really a problem? I mean, it will only make things safer.

Porn will also be more realistic. I mean, in real life, most people use condoms.

Seems like a win, win situation, no?

So this whole thread is a non-story pretty much at this point until the courts are done.

But it sure sounded scary in the title. :1orglaugh

Democracy At Work AHF Gets Measure Requiring Condom Use On Ballot

By MikeSouth
November 30th, 2011

"Lets vote on it, this is a Democracy"

I remember hearing that throughout my school years, despite the fact that grammar school classrooms were authoritarian dictatorships, every now and then we'd get to vote on some irrelevant issue like do we want to spend the paper sale money on a Christmas tree or a wreath for the classroom door, we never voted on anything like should homework be optional. The teacher knew all too well how that would go, so it never made the ballot. Thus is the nature of a true Democracy, it's really just mob rule.

Now imagine if the whole school got to vote on whether our classroom had a tree or a wreath, and what if the majority f the REST of the school were Jewish, and they could vote us Hanukkah Lights instead. Even if we are all Muslims....You get my drift here.

The Aids Healthcare Foundation has gotten the required signatures to put mandatory condom use in porn shot in L.A. County on the ballot. So now instead of being an industry issue, it's going to be at the hands of the voters, many of whom, as in any voter initiative, have no real understanding of the issue.

On the flip side you could argue that this is a public health issue and as such, should be subject to government oversight.

Regardless the bottom line is that The people of L.A. County are going to choose what is permissible for a small group of people that they have no direct interest in.

Vote Libertarian.....

I guess Weinstein figures if Hassidics fuck through a hole in a sheet the least others can do is use a condom. sheesh...There was a news report last night with a guest from our community surmising there was something rotten with Weinstein...

I also thought an LA DA has threatened to sue if i goes on the ballot since in his office's opinion it is a worthless law and a waste of tax payers money.

Nice post.

If it passes or doesn't pass, I don't see any changes really happening. %99.9 of all porn shoots go down with no permits.:2 cents:
