Lesser Known Blues Bands, Post your favorites.
I'm looking for some new music....for late nights.
I like Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers. :thumbsup A real blues/rock trio in the classic sense. Jimmy can squeeze his guitar like Jimmy/Stevie when he get in the mood.:2 cents: Just my opinion.:pimp |
I knew this guy when he was a little kid - I still see him play locally from time to time:
Jamming with Nick Gravenites in San Jose a few years ago (I was at this show): When I attended college we started an annual event called the Fountain Blues Festival that is still around. During the years I was on the Program Board that sponsored the show, it featured artists such as John Lee Hooker (who is a Bay Area local), Koko Taylor, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Bo Diddley, Maxine Howard, Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings, Ron Thompson, and Buddy Guy (a local for many years). Blues artists they have had since I left college include Otis Rush, La Vern Baker, Canned Heat, Etta James, and the Robert Cray Band. When I first learned to play guitar, most of the songs I learned were blues-based rock songs, so I have a deep and abiding love and respect for the Blues... :D ADG |
Fucking amazing guitar playing. At 6:15 minutes into the second video, Jimmy Thackery plays with one hand better than most play with both hands. Amazing skills.

RL Burnside... Not exactly a "little known" musician but more people definitely need to become aware of his music. The man's a genius
