Is working outside in the cold bad for you?

I did it one time, and it sucked, but I don't think it hurt me.. I was considering this one shit job, very temporary and it pays a little better than most because it's outside and manual labor and we're going into winter

Just don't want to make my health any worse

Wilsy 12-29-2011 08:00 AM

Of course it is not bad for you. I worked outside for 10 years never done me any harm... Do you seriously think it could be bad for you?

Well last time the only thing was the cold got into my hip and I had to eat ibuprofen to get through most work nights.. I didn't know if the cold could cause joint issues that are permanent, or what?

you will feel when it will be bad for you...;-)

i think that - at least for me- every manual physical job is GOOD, after hours in front of computer....

It does dry out your skin and makes your knuckles crack.

CurrentlySober 12-29-2011 09:55 AM

i'm not allowed outside... the nurses keep me locked up in ' A.D.S.E.G. ' whatever that means...

i have not seen the night sky for over 7 months... :(

oscer 12-29-2011 10:35 AM

Nope its fine ..... its just really really Annoying !

Spunky 12-29-2011 10:37 AM

I'd rather do that than being a roofer in the Summer

EroTechnology 12-29-2011 11:16 AM

I think I`m right in saying that research indicates that working in an outside cold environment is far more healthier than sitting indoors in the warm.

grumpy 12-29-2011 01:25 PM

when you think its bad for you , it is bad for you. But it probably has nothing to do with the outdoors but with the manual work. Pussy

I know this isn't a dude asking this question. I worked outside all my life and I'm still here. Oh and rain slush, below, below zero. Please i'm intrigued. Where the fuck are you from??????

Paul Markham 12-29-2011 03:25 PM

Working anywhere is bad for me. LOL

CDSmith 12-29-2011 03:32 PM

As a Canadian I have to say I find your question to be incredibly hilarious.

get a job.

PSD 12-29-2011 04:13 PM

I don't think working in the cold causes one to get sick but it might make one more susceptible to getting sick. It may lower ones immune system by reducing the blood flow which reduces the supply of white blood cells to parts of the body. Also cold air may be more likely to dry the mucus membranes lining the airways causing them to be more exposed to any germs that are present. Dressing warmly and hydrating though would probably help counter these things.

porno jew 12-29-2011 04:17 PM

you think this is cold? http://www.wunderground.com/US/KS/Hutchinson.html i think you are just lazy and making excuses.

epitome 12-29-2011 04:22 PM

You'll die working outdoors.

Sit on your girlfriends sofa for a few more months and ponder that.

AnimeFevers 12-29-2011 04:29 PM

If you dress sensibly then you should be fine, the only thing dangerous about working outside in the cold is you could catch a cold lol.

I used to do a job which involved working outside in all the season (if work was available) and I hated working in the winter the most but what choice do you have when money is involved. wear more cloths in the winter and less in the summer.

Working outside is healthy, cold or warm.. The cold air does nothing wrong for you & only keeps those lungs clean :thumbsup

My father used to work for British Telecom when he was in his 20s, digging holes in the middle of winter, fixing phone lines & putting up poles & pylons, 10foot of snow & blistering cold... It never did him any harm, he's still alive & kicking.
I also have worked in the cold & rain, both manual labour digging trenches & security, walking around in the freezing cold :2 cents:

When I was younger I worked outside in the winter installing cable modems. It got to -10 some days.

You dress for the weather: wear winter boots, wool socks, long underwear, a sweatshirt and winter hat/ski mask.

You'll be perfectly fine.

All in all, I like to be climate controlled.

You could always drop a grand on one of those electric jackets they keep advertising.
