Photoshop Batch Conumdrum
 

fucking retared Photoshop, why i long ago stopped using it for batch watermarking - but today i didn't want to use a seperate watermarking program so I tried using Photoshop.

here's the issue, i'm opening photos in Photoshop, wanting to watermark them with a logo using PS's batch processing feature and an Action. So I record an action - watermarking with a logo in the corner and then saving using 'Save for Web'.

I have all my open files and go to File-->Automate-->Batch - source is 'Open Files'
then for Destination i choose 'Folder' and create a sub-folder I want these watermarked photos to be saved in. There's a checkbox below with 'Override Action 'Save As' Commands' - I check the box because I want to put these photos in the sub-folder I've created NOT the folder I used to save in the Action. I run the batch and the photos end up in the folder used in the Action, NOT what I wanted. So I start over and make another Action, this time leaving out the 'Save for Web' stop hoping that Photoshop will put the photos in the Destination folder I chose in the Batch screen. No workee - because I've left out the 'Save for Web' step in the Action when I run the batch Photoshop pops up a box to save the images one by one as .PSD's.

So what I'm left to conclude is that I have to change my action for each set of photos I want to save in a sub-folder of my choosing. That's just fucking retarded, what's the point of this Destination folder crap in the Batch Processing screen if the only way to batch save jpeg's in a destination folder of your choice is to record it in an action?

Am I missing something very obvious here? :helpme

You could try making a copy of the set of images in a new directory first.

Then configure your action and use save as at the end to overwrite the originals with the now watermarked version in that same directory.

Been a while so I am not 100% but I have been through similar situations before.

All that pop up is saying is that there has to be a 'save action' or 'save as action' within your list of modifications you made on the image before you hit your stop recording. But really you should step outside of photoshop for multi folder processing. Its slow and not as easy to use as other programs.

i do - i use Fastone Resizer which is great but was in Photoshop already and thought i'd give it another try to batch watermark a few sets of photos.

Why watermark? Pirates are just going to crop that shit out anyways...

Maybe try this with like two files. In the actions save for web and hit the folder location and in the batch choose save and close for destination.

i probably did try that - i tried every possible combination i could think of, nothing worked in the way i wanted it to, so i gave up and bent to Photoshop's will and just changed the save location in the action before running the batch.

Have you tried using the Image Processor under File > Scripts, rather than the Batch?
