Paypal Donate Button?

Can you put paypal donate buttons on adult sites?

You'd be taking a risk. If they find out, or somebody tips them (usually a competitor webmaster), you'll get banned. I wonder what substitute options are, though.

Feel free to put one in your sig, I'll send you a couple of bucks.

that would violate their TOS

Ok, here is some out of the box thinking. Sorry ahead of time if this is way too much effort, or if someone knows a better way.

Make a shopping cart with donation products in multiples of 5 or 10, whatever.
I use magento commerce myself, they have an option to use paypal, authorize.net, or to save the credit card numbers.

I am an affiliate, I havent really used paxum yet as I am so far a fail affiliate lol. That being said, is there a way you can use them or someone similar to deduct money from an account?

If not get a squareup account and the squareup app for your smartphone and just manually type the donations in as you get them.

Sorry, probably not the best answer but it's all I could come up with.
Best of luck!

Edit: Magento also has a donation add on you can buy that may allow you to collect whatever amount you like.
I haven't used it so I don't know how it works though.

Paxum has an IPN so yes you can use them to accept payments on your site. You could generate preset payment buttons (donation products like you called them) or let the surfer enter the amount he wants to donate.

Another option would be okpay. They also have an IPN. The main advantage here would be that buyers don't need to have an okpay account to pay you.

Had an idea but I'm sure it probably violates Paypal's TOS.

On your paysite have a "FREE Membership" button that links to a non-adult domain/page that is basically selling cheap non-adult merchandise or something for $29.95 one time charge (or subscription even). Make it clear on the paysite that if they buy something from the merchandise page they will get a free membership to the paysite. So you are technically selling a tangible non-adult product using Paypal.

They seem less strict with donations as you aren't actually selling anything.

KingNigel 01-01-2012 05:10 PM

Paypal does not allow non-tangible adult products.

Hi guys,

About the PP donate button, this may interest you - not adult related in any way, but they shut them down weirdly, so be careful: http://www.regretsy.com/2011/12/05/cats-1-kids-0/

Paul&John 01-02-2012 02:24 PM

Just start a fake file-sharing service and you are good to go ;)

Dirty Dane 01-02-2012 02:39 PM

No adult. Start a KKK or pirate site instead.
