File-Sharing Recognized as Official Religion in Sweden

The Missionary Church of Kopimism is a congregation of file sharers which hold that copying information is a sacred virtue. The sect, based in Sweden, petitioned the Swedish government to have their church officially recognized as a cult[1][2][3].
The sect's followers are called Kopimists from copy me[4]. According to the church, "In our belief, communication is sacred."[1]
At the end of December 2011 a branch of the Swedish government registered The Missionary Church of Kopimism as a religion. Henceforth Kopimism is recognized as a religion in Sweden and is no longer referred to as a sect.
