They already made their money. Nalem did too.
|
thing isa by now you would expect at least some people to be posting and talking about .xxx links.
and yet after all the hype - its dead. they have done the hype its clear its failed to win any adult webmaster. its so amuzing that .xxx is probably the only domain adult webmasters have not bought. .xxx the adult domain purchased by everyone who is not in the adult biz. to be fair, thats clever marketing. its like selling shoes to fish. |

If you compare the amount of .com, .net, .org etc domains on that page to the amount of active .com, .net, .org etc domains domaintools.com lists, you'll see the numbers match. |

just like with .mobi etc, probably like 99% of the .xxx domains are registered by people who thought they would get rich by selling their domains once the extension gets popular, none of them has any plans to actually develop a site. So the extension will never get popular because all good domains are taken by people who will never use them. It's been a big fail since the start just like with any other new tdl that came out over the recent years.
A domain extension will not get popular by stupid and expensive TV commercials. An extension will get popular if there are many many sites on the extension. To get many people to put sites on an extension the domains need to be cheap, everyone should have a fair chance of registering good domains, and people need a good reason to use the domain. .XXX doesn't deliver any of this. If they really wanted the extension to be used they should have a clause that said if you don't put your .xxx live within an x amount of months the domain will be revoked and given to someone that actually wants to use the domain. What's the point of 100,000s of domains to be registered and just a few 100 being used. They obviously don't care. They make their money by scaring people to 'protect their brand' and making false promises. |
What do you suppose Frank Schilling's take on .xxx is even already at this point? :Oh crap

if you try hard i am sure you will find some .mobi sites, but so what. .xxx was advertised on usa tv, and hyped on forums, and even given free .xx domains to models and some other sites. to be honest you would expect from all that to now see .xxx sites being posted. yet, no one seems to have bothered. no big named firms are saying we have a new site itsa 123.xxx, but instead our new site is 123.com. we are talking only weeks not years after the launch. do not forget that often if somthing is new porn often jumps on it to see if they can make it work (such as 3d porn), so the fact that people are not jumping on it just to see, says huge amounts. its irrelivent if its 300 or 30000 purchases of .xxx a day. the important factor is how many will be used as real sites. one should expect a huge purchase for the first year of these domains as people panick buy to protect there brand. lets face it if your a big company your going to spend a few grand on .xx to protect all your brands. but probably let these drop after a few years. |

they bought the domains, now they re building the sites.
I see tons of .xxx sites popping up left and right you must be blind |
we are currently finishing some projects we started before .xxx, after they are done we'll build our .xxx domains.
|
Maybe a lot of people don't want to be seen supporting scumbags when .com is clearly better anyway.

Hold On
I have not posted regarding xxx since the tongue lashing I got from my earlier posts.
However, this thread got me started again. It is really premature to say xxx is dead. Too early to make any rational statement of it's long term success. How many of you can get a brand new concept and website ready in only a couple of weeks? Most are taking their time as there is no rush. They have acquired their domain they wanted and will built it out in due time. Sure, many are held by domain speculators, but they will either lease them out or sell them. But a lot of the good ones are held by current and new adult webmasters. Just because they do not post about it does not mean they do not own them. That is what whois privacy is all about, see how many have privacy turned on. They may even build them out with new corporate names until the affiliate ranting wears done. I can assure you I am in many xxx Sunrise AD auctions and there is very competitive bidding. The first auctions end soon, nobody wants to talk xxx up while they are involved in active auctions. That is why it is so quiet. Still looking for good adult traffic buys with geo sort, need Canada. Will deal direct or through a brokerage. Contact me at [email protected] All the best Marianne. |
