I bought a 50cc Scooter, and I'm super excited. Anyone else here share my passion?
I'm really pumped up about this purchase. A Honda Metropolitan. It is still early in the year but with the new wheels convenience goes up an order of magnitude. Beer runs, parking spots, anything you can think of.
One catch... It tops off at 40mph and it takes it 45 seconds or so to get there. Gets up to 30mph fairly fast though. Gets 90-110 mpg. :pimp http://img.srchub.net/i/1Mf6U.jpg |
I have a 150 cc. They are like fat girls. Fun to drive, but you wouldn't want your friends to see you with.

That's pretty cool, pretty much a remake of the old antique I have kickin around...
http://www.bikeexif.com/wp-content/u...ssport_c70.jpg Have had In my family since it was new, I was restoring it this summer and it got stolen, and luckily recovered when a highschool teacher noticed it had the ignition drilled out :1orglaugh Fucking punk kids took it to school to mod it in shop class. |

My friend warned me, in spite of the econo cool factor, don't expect to get laid on it! Luckily I've got a full face helmet, but truthfully it really doesn't bother me, they are so much fun. I've had my share of bikes: '97 RM125, '05 YZ 125, "75 Kawa KZ100, '97 KTM 125, '05 GSX 600R, '04 Honda Rebel. |

I grew up out in the sticks, and a bunch of my friends had dirt bikes... being from a family of 5 meant that THAT was my dirt bike :1orglaugh I can remember launchin that thing off ramps, off roading, riding through water halfway up the wheels... Took a major spill when a tire popped... After all that, all it needs is an exhaust bracket, some tires and a paint job. I |
when I had spinal surgery it left me with partial paralysis in my ankles which meant i couldnt ride safely anymore (couldnt shift and wasnt nearly as ghood on the brakes as i wanted to be. a friend suggested I get a Burgman 650 I decided before dropping that kind of money I would try out a cheap scooter....got a chinese made 150 for 800 bucks...rode it over 5000 miles and sold it a year later for 750 bucks
Bought a Suzuki burgman 650 and I dont think Id go back to the manual shift...its always in the power band, its scary fast and it handles like a dream...I love riding it and yep I been laid with it..... |
My mother has a scooter like this. She's 70.

Nice ride. I have a Honda Today and a Honda Little Cub. They're a nightmare in the rain but otherwise good for short trips and in traffic jams, and cheap to fix and maintain. Feels good to just zip down the side of a 2-3km line of stationary cars, just take it super slow and pray that no fucker pulls to the side or opens a door.
If it's your thing and you know your route, they also make a fairly decent getaway vehicle... providing you're not trying to outrun a police cruiser on the freeway, heh. Since they're popular with hipster dickheads, the risk of it getting stolen is super high. It's not like a car where you can just remove some small important part to stop it from being driven away... since it's no problem for 1 strong dude or a couple of normal guys to just pick them up, I chain mine down tight even in the garage. |

They went thro quite a bit to grab it. |

Scooters are the vehicles of choice in Asia.
Love them so long as it's not raining. |
If I lived in the middle of a big city, I'd absolutely have a scooter like that.

Riding around on an underpowered glorified bicycle surrounded by tons of metal and glass piloted by ignorant fat bastards with zero patience (most of whom really couldn't give a fuck whether they flatten you or not) is slightly more nerve-wracking than it looks, nothing like riding a proper motorcycle. To most drivers, your mere existence on a scooter is enough to subconsciously frustrate them to the point that puts you in danger, and 99% of car and truck drivers will do anything to get in front of you just because. |
Yes :pimp

Make sure your headphones are cranking out "Born To Be Wild" when riding.

Used to ride a modified Honda CRF50 around but it wasn't plated. Have fun.

I have seen quite a few hot chicks on the back of them with dorks driving so thinking chicks kinda dig them. :thumbsup |
Depending on where you live they're awesome. If you're in a place with bad climate or spread-out freeway driving they're not ideal

I've been taking the metropolitan out and it's a bit cold blooded, doesn't like full throttle for a long time. When it warms up things should be a little easier. |
You should ride it uphill with traffic piling up behind you. This happened to me back in college. Upside down smiles for several hundred yards.

I've driven everything from huge cruisers to scooters.. and nothing is more dangerous than being on one of these little scooters.. gonna call BS on his mother using one for sure. |

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh Yeah, the whole reason I got this was for convenience. I'm back in school full time for Electrical and Computer Engineering and sometimes I like to stay very late at the school. It's not wonder as they have up to a 3 MB/sec up connection and I can burn through all the power I want there. The bus comes as late as 12:30 but that puts a grind on me as it shows up a good 300 yards away and sometimes doesn't show up when it is supposed to. The scooter allows me to take off when I need to and traffic won't be dense around that time. |
Own it!

My mum had a 90cc but give it up at the age of 80, mind you she was 17 when she bought a 98cc scooter and toured war torn europe on it. Although to be fair it wasnt as pretty as your scooter.
