Just sitting here with Buddy

We made it. Coolest lil cat. 6 months, male. Lil guy tho. Farm kitty, born in the wall of the barn. I was so blessed today. I still dont have a dig cam other than a cell and no cable lol so sorry no pics.

I took him out of the carrier right away in the car. I knew he could handle it. Long 45 min ride. He was so cool. He would give me scuzzys with his nose as I held my hand by him as if to say, "Im with you man". As he watched the road go by.

Absolutely the most affectionate cat I ever had or seen espec right after meeting me.

Got to the house and he explored every nook while purring the whole time. Played for about 5 mins hard with a hanging string. Now he is chilled out totally and seems to like my music. :)

The ole Catman feels good again. :)

Got to clip his nails. Got a few cuts already :)

Get well MP. He's battling the flu. :)

Now he is sleeping. Quite the day. :)

No snow in MN. First time ever we have made it this far with no snow. Nothing in site either.

The good Lord did it all for me and Buddy. :) Beautiful sunny day and about 40 for a high.

this was our first playlist in order

totally knocked him out :)

Hope life finds you and yours well :) :thumbsup

Went to a animal shelter and got to play with some itneresting cats, most shelters have "catteries" where they just all hang out on an amusement park of baskets shelfs and hideouts, probably 40 cats between two rooms I was in

Best part is if you like one you can adopt it for $100 or so

Nice man nice. :thumbsup It is about $175 at the humane society to adopt one here (neutering mainly).

These folks (vets), (after my friend I think told them my hard luck story :) neutered it for free. Only cost me $35 for rabies/distemper.

He can be vaccinated against FLV for only $20 so gonna have that done. Didnt realize they could vaccinate for that now days.

But yeah us cat people, man we cant live without our kittys. I think my strength comes from cats. I didnt realize till I had none around for almost 4 months.

He is back up and exploring like a mofo. Gonna keep me busy :)

Got to clip them nails (now and regularly) and get him used to the scratching post. He was just digging in to my good chair even tho most is covered. :)

Got a break away collar in case he gets outside but were in no hurry to go out. Doesnt seem to want toi go out as he is still pretty young.

darn Thi svfgfggggggggggggggggg

lb ol

lol that was him. he is all in my grill with a burst of affection after the nap.

Oh fuck those nails are sharp. :)

I was around 22 when I bought my last kitten (a siamese in Brooklyn Center MN :) Brookdale Shopping Center in 1979 and one before that at 19 (1976). Both siamese kittens. So I cant remember how much playing we did. Been a while since I had a kitten. :)

I guess I have to play with this lil guy a bit. He is back chilling now after a hanging string workout.

Cool cat. Goes wherever I go. American breed with much more white and white paws. Very handsome. :)

So he has already lived full farm life and came and went on the farm a bit. So I guess I will wait till he wants to go outside. Doesnt seem to want to at all yet. So that is good. My other cat lived to be outdoors.

Once he is confident in me and considers this home.. he will prob go out eventually with me. Then we can go for a walk.

You worry about cats but they tend to run the show. :)

He is back zzzing again. I might be boring. :)

Sounds like you had a good day. Glad to hear it.

One question though. How do you go about cutting your cats nails?

I have had cats, have 2 cats and 2 dogs and I have never had to cut the cats nails.
Im not being douchey or anything, just curious as it seems like that would be one hell of a feat lol.
My cats are very nice but I don't think they would want me near their feet with a pain of clippers.

Vjo 01-09-2012 05:20 PM

I wonder if he likes Howard Stern. Damn I am so boring LOL

I fed my last one nothinmg but Fancy Feast and dry ($.60 a can $15 a week, went up now $18 a week!)

But this lil guy they say to mainly go dry so well see how that goes. I have 15 cans of fancy feast left. Hasnt eaten much yet. Couple bites dry. Lil milk. They said the distemper shot would mellow him.

They need lots of exercise. The ole hanging string from the ceiling with a lil knot of shoelace on the bottom is the best.

Gonna cook some chicken from scratch tomorrow (my famous baked chix :) ) so see if he likes that. :)

Still zzzing. Good sign :thumbsup

Thanks. Yes good day. :) No prob. Yeah I had to do that with my first two siamese kittens so I learned.

Simply take a lil "fingernail clipper" the kind you squeeze. Good sharp fairly new one is best. Hold the paw gently to extend the nail and make sure you only clip the tip and allow a lil distance between the nail and "pink". Dont get too close to the pink.

Some cats will allow you no prob. Some like my new lil guy fight it so you have to get one here, one there when they dont expect it.

You only need to get the tip and it is a big diff. They still scratch but they dont grab the fabric nearly as much. And they dont scratch you at all.

Kittens are small so you need good light and take your time. Dont have to get them all at once if they fight it by pulling their paw back. Dont squeeze too hard on their arm. Allow them to pull their paw back. You have to clip em a lil here and a lil there over one day.

You only need to get the front paws, four nails per (eight total) not the thumbs so much altho preferred to get the thumbs too.

Has to be repeated about every 2-3 weeks.

Vjo 01-09-2012 05:49 PM

They dont feel a thing. No pain. Just dont get too close to the pink. Usually the nail is long and there is plenty of room to work. Leave at least 3/32" before the pink for kittens. (just about 1/8") Leave bare minimum 5/32" for adults. 3/16" is about best for adults.

Clip from the side of the nail so you are clipping on the flat side not the front or rounded side. Then it will give a nicer clip with much less or no cracking at all. As long as you dont touch the pink or get too close you (and the cat) will have no prob.

Even if you have a tinch of cracking, still no prob as long as you are not too close to the pink.

Hey! back at ya! A 6 month old is a handfull tho :) Oh man.

What a loud purr. He is a happy camper. Went from the barn to the cushy life he is like "is there anything else to do? So I threw one of those furry fake mice. that is a winner :thumbsup lol

He still smells like manure even tho they wash4543ed him (yes that typo was cause by him. :)

He is freaken out on the monitor now and this text i'm typing, literally trying to bite the monitor. Oh God what a charachter. :)

Moved on to my mouse cable now. :)

Anyhow he no longer smells as much like manure but I do!

I got my cat Oscar out behind the shop where I used to work,She's part Siamese,Persian with a bit of Calico in the face.Very vocal cat.every morning at around 6:30 she meows to wake me up so I can let her out. She's ruthless and never misses a day.
I wouldn't feed cats milk.apparently it's not good for them

Vjo 01-09-2012 06:58 PM

That is a winner. Still throwing the mouse around 10 mins later.

He took two hard naps since we got home. lol Damn I am jealous. Wonder if he will let me sleep 8 hours.

Then again couldnt have been much happening in the barn in winter except cold. He sneezed a few times at the vet and home.

Still throwing the mouse after 12 mins, make that 15 mins. :)

Hey Spunky :thumbsup Yeah Siamese are very vocal. Sounds like a handsome cat :)

Yeah good point. I only got it cause he was drinking that in the barn but he spent the weekend in the vet's cage after neutering eating dry. Not hungry at all yet. Had about two kernals of dry all day and still working the mouse lol now 25 mins later.

I remember now! Good toys is the secret to survival (for humans) with a 6 month old cat. :)

His break away collar already broke away. Found it laying around. But you dont want to use a hard collar on a cat who might go outside. Must be break away.

They are pretty cool tho ($4.99 at Walmart, $7.99 at the pet store. Damn I should of went to Walmart :) ) and if you get a light color you can write your phone/address on in Sharpie thus no tag needed.

Vjo 01-09-2012 07:56 PM

6+3+6

(that would be Buddy again on the keyboard :helpme :) )

OMG this cat is a barrel of energy.

OK he went in the other room. Thank God! No activity.

He just chowed down. Guess that is good.

oh lord :helpme

Anyhow gonna try and get some sleep soon.

I wanted a kitten. Why? "So you can mold em." Oh yeah. He's gonna mold me into the nuthouse. :)

He is using the litterbox, that is good.

Vjo 01-09-2012 08:13 PM

He was using the litterbox. Buddy is currently trying to bat around the help me icons in the last post.

Exciting stuff next to farm life. I understand. :)

Guess I'll have to wait till he gets bored.

He is wondering why I stare at this screen? Why do I punch these keys? :) Why? Why? Why?

Welcome to my world Buddy. :) He is currently laying on my chest.

This song mellowed him a bit

he likes tunes a lot :) mellows him :)

Very handsome :thumbsup

Sorry I nodded out before responding.. this guy looks exactly like a cat I had (all grey tabby) who I adopted from the humane society in 1994 age 5. He was 17 LBs and extremely stocky. (yours is not 17 LBs, just the same color) Cute guy. Noone wanted to adopt him cause he was so chunky and naturally he turned out to be a great cat.

Anyhow just a follow up.. Once I got the nails clipped.. night and day.

He settled down a lot today and has been eating like crazy. Every two hours crunching dry. Littlest guy. So light and cute with a big appetite.

Naturally he needed a day to settle in. He'll soon be just another bored cat. :)

At first I went to bed with only some nails clipped. He was jumping at my legs ect. You cant take a clawed cat to bed. And where I go he goes. :)

Anyhow just wanted to respond to your nice tabby pic :thumbsup :)
