Jan 11th, 2012. Toronto, Ontario, Canada

No snow on the ground anywhere.
it is warm out, i'm not even wearing a jacket today just a long sleeve light sweater.

I can't remember ever having a winter like this, although they have been getting progressively warmer each year. It used to be -40 Celsius when i was growing up, all the time.

Hope this doesn't effect the ground water or anything and cause drought in some places.

I rest assured this is not the result of man made pollution nor global warming, as so many of GFY's scientists have told us man is not capable of effecting the environment in that respect.

O MARINA 01-11-2012 08:57 AM

It's great :)

Loki 01-11-2012 09:05 AM

it's deff been a 'wild' winter here for us, (Northern Michigan) normally by this time of year we'd have 6 or more feet of snow, and temps overnight between 0 - 10 below (f)

As of right now, we've gotten MAYBE a total of 2 feet of snow, and the coldest night was like 5 (f) and I can see dirt around the ground outside lol

as nice as the weather is here, it's KILLING our local economy as I live in a tourist town that relies on skiers and snowmobiles to make it through the winters and we've got none of that.

With that said I HEAR we're in for a 'huge storm' starting tonight through Friday, but we'll see I guess

Last year, we had our worst winter in over 40 years i think it was. It was a nightmare! The roads were fucked for weeks, and the temperature's were shockingly low.

This Winter, it's mild as hell. Hardly even any ground frost, never mind snow.

All the weather forecasters predicted another Winter from hell, and everyone tried to be more prepared for it after being caught out last time, but it's came to nothing at all. Unless, there's another twist in the tale to come.

I don't get it...

We drove through a nasty snowstorm coming home after New Years from about an hour North of Toronto, but otherwise I've been enjoying the lack of snow in the area. I'm hearing on the news that a nasty storm is coming on Friday though so don't get too comfortable!!!

candyflip 01-11-2012 11:07 AM

I'm across the lake in Rochester. It was in the mid 50s here for two days last week. We haven't had a day where what snow did fall overnight wasn't melted by 10 am.

That doesn't stop my parents from skiing though. They've got 4 trails open and are making the best of it.

Yes, in a couple of days we can all blame Mr. Hypnotoad if we're buried in 2 feet of snow.

WiredGuy 01-11-2012 02:00 PM

Global warming at its best. In 10 years, Toronto will be the new Miami.

Down here in Windsor it was actually hot last week. Left the office to go for lunch and it was clear blue sky, sun shining and nice. I can't believe the winter we've had so far, long may it continue! I just hope it doesn't mean we'll be getting snow in May tho.

dont ruin it by talking about it!!

Si 01-11-2012 03:40 PM

Only used the blower once here so far (In the Maritimes). Barely a covering of snow on the ground, lots of grass can be seen.

Last year we had about 14 feet snowfall total, not even had a foot yet I don't think.

Saying about the temps though, since I've lived here we seem to get a damn cold year with a nice summer and then an average year after that. So it seem to fit the pattern.

First winter we had record lows and that was only 4 years ago.

CDSmith 01-11-2012 04:47 PM

It's been insanely warm here in Winterpeg too. Hell it was +7 one day last week. Unfortunately today the temp dropped off sharply and we're on the cusp of about a week of -20, some snow falling now, and in a day or so it's supposed to hit something like -38 with the windchill.

And it's headed your way Toronto. :D

The good news is in about 5 days or so it's going to warm up again for a few days. I have no idea what's going on with the nice weather this winter, but I know we'll have to pay for it sometime. Wouldn't be surprised if we got one of those Colorado Lows hitting sometime before Spring which will dump 5 feet of the white stuff on us. Won't that be fun?

That's quite a turnaround... :helpme

I grew up in the gta and don't recall any winters at -40 man.. maybe a day or two pushing that with windchill. I do recall having mild winters though, no snow until after xmas etc.. it does come in waves.

We have snow coming our way in the next two days though, not sure how much.

i would also like to predict the exact opposite of wired guy's predictions (which is rare) things will be getting colder than they will warmer in 10 years. As it does with any cycle.

AAB 01-12-2012 10:48 AM

Mild winter indeed. Barely in the neg numbers here in Alberta. Oddly - I remember seeing countless articles in fall warning that winter would be longer and colder than usual this year. Prediction fail so far.

Bryan G 01-12-2012 10:51 AM

You Fuckos have Jinx it!!!!

We're gonna get Royally Fucked now LOL

Yeah, had lots of friends in WNY "taking the dog for a walk with no jacket in January." :)

Did Swain open?

Yep. My parents run the Children's Ski School there. They've only got a few trails open and there's lots of mud. But people have been out there every day getting some runs in.
