I'm not a 49ers fan (my avatar and sig show what playoff missing team I cheer for :Oh crap). However, I'm rooting for the Niners, simply because of David Akers. Akers, in my opinion, is one of the best place kickers the NFL has seen. I was disappointed when the Eagles let him walk at the end of last season. Granted, he performed poorly in their final game, but it was later revealed that he had just found out that his daughter had a form of cancer, so his head wasn't in the game.

Even after getting snubbed by the Eagles front office, Akers went so far as to purchase a billboard along I-95 in Philly:

Not a 49ers fan, but would really like to see them win it. I remember the 49ers teams growing up always doing good, glad to see them have some success again, plus i really hate the Saints and would like nothing more than to see them get beat.

If what they say is true and defence wins championships then it should be a 9ers vs. Ravens final. OH MAN WHAT A GAME THAT WOULD BE!!!

Totally. Been a loyal Niner fan for 30 years now.

I have all the faith in the world they can beat the Saints. But will they? We'll see. If our D brings their A game and gets at Brees and creates a few takeaways it could keep their scoring potential to a minimum. Hopefully Gore shows up hungry for yardage, and the niners have several great recievers every bit as good as NO has.

Should be a good game. If ther's a blowout I hope it's in favor of SF. :D

Even though he is having his best season so far, it is painfully obvious that Alex Smith is inadequate with the 29th ranked passing game (out of 32) in the NFL, and he consistently shows up in the lower half of QBR stats by ESPN.

To think that the 49ers could have had Aaron Rodgers instead, but went for Smith... :disgust

Rodgers had a huge local following at Cal (UC Berkeley), so with that alone he would have put people in the seats, instead of streaming to the exits after Smith's numerous sub-par games over the years.

Thank the running game, and especially the defense, for how far the Niners have gotten this year - well, that and the fact that most of the teams in their division suck.

I'm guessing it will be New Orleans vs New England in the Super Bowl. Green Bay could still do it with an awful pass defense simply on the strength of Rodgers' arm and attitude.

the niners have played nothing but crap teams, all season long.

out of 16 games, they played 5 vs playoff teams, & 3 of those lost last week.

The teams they played twice (cards, rams, seahawks) are the worst teams in the NFL.

the only question is whether they lose today, or in green bay.
