Wordpress Comments
Whats up with these random WordPress comments I am getting.
One about mesotheliona which is obviously an ad but there are other ones like Quote:

If you Google Holy concise data baatmn. Lol! which is one of the comments, you'll see the same shit on other wp sites with the same error etc. so whats going on here? I expected bots to have like links to crap so seeing this makes me worry about maybe something security wise? Am I right to be paranoid about something so dumb? Thanks |
I usually disable comments on my blogs, otherwise use something like Akismet to fight spam.
|
I guess they are hoping to have them approved, depending on your settings this would allow them to post their "real" spam without needing your approval (and checking) in the future.

ScrapeBox ? Harvest, Check, Ping, Post.

Thanks for the very helpful info everyone. I usually don't do many wp sites at my mainstream web job. I only started really pushing them for these porn blogs so I was totally clueless to this.
Thanks so much and thanks again for the help. |
I just started a thread about comments not see this one already started. I will re-post it here,
Wordpress question about "comments" I logged into 1 of my blogs that I have not visited in a while and noticed there were close to a 1,000 comments held for moderation. How do I disable commenting all together, I don't want anyone to even be able to post anything even for moderation. This will turn into a new daily choir deleting these comments as I develop more blogs. Thanks |

Its called Spam. Turn them off. or get a comment spam catcher if you actually want real comments to come thru. make people create an account to leave a comment. |
is scrapebox still effective or has google panda nullified it?
|
use an offline poster like windows livewriter.
enable remote publishing in wordpress settings write posts, unclick allow comments box publish post make money you are getting spammed, you will notice a link either in the comment post or as their name, url so they can get a backlink from your site. comments on adult blogs are dumb, just turn them off or write your own if you really want comments. |
It's a script called Scrapebox that posts a bogus comment to every blog and forum in the hopes it will be auto-approved and boost the backlinks to their site.
I get a bunch per day too. Yeah, it's annoying. |

Code:
<div class="comments-template" style=""> Code:
<?php comments_popup_link('No Comments »', '1 Comment »', '% Comments »'); ?> <?php edit_post_link('Edit', ' | ', ''); ?> If you purchased a template and/or don't want to play with the code, there are probably settings in the admin or a plugin which may help. Sorry I am a newbie to wp so I am not exactly sure where it would be or what plugin to use. |

For the past two days I have been getting a shit load of these. I have also been getting a lot of people registering for my blogs. Most times I just remove the comments section on my blogs, not worth the hassle.
|
I have about 3 or 4 day too. some are well written and others are all coming from the same IP address.
|
they run scrapbox and spam blog comments. blog comments are actually really good inbound links. works well. they automate the comment to 1000 blogs and if they get a few dozen that work the effort is successful. To bad panda didnt address blog comment spam.
|
called spam tasting, to see if comment gets approved first, then later can spam a url
