Pornblogs.com - Another free blog hosting success story?

Thread for those who don't know or remember Pornblogs.com: https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=948115

All subdomains are now redirecting here: http://www.itslive.com/

Hope nobody wasted time building links to any of those blogs. :1orglaugh

:1orglaugh

LOL @ those morons using free hosts.

incredibleworkethic 01-18-2012 09:54 AM

I heavily recommend investing into your own domains, even for those just starting out.

HomerSimpson 01-18-2012 09:59 AM

nice fuckup!

I've built hundreds of blogs on dozens of free hosts, and sadly they all go to shit within a year or two, with the obvious exceptions of Twan's thumblogger, sexusblog, and sensualwriter adult blogging platforms. If I use any other free hosts, I build with the assumption that a year later it will be gone, redirecting, or so cluttered with monetizing efforts that I would prefer to just forget about them.

maybe he tried to do the blackout thing and fucked it up? :D

lucas131 01-18-2012 10:06 AM

oops, just wanted to make my 1500 blog there

Do these free blog places keep spots for their own ads? I ask because bandwidth is so cheap there is no excuse to have to shut down later.

How many actually use these services? I'd put one up but figured nobody would be interested.

9/10 services will redirect you once you get some traffic, it is wasting of time and with still less and less webmasters less people use those imho

I believe it, I just don't see why. If you make a profit on banners and keep growing leave the stupid banners up.

I just remembered blogbugs and blogtur - they're still up and running without over-doing the ads, but they don't offer that many advanced features/plugins.

They do run their own ads, but I suspect the reason they disappear or redirect has less to do with cost of operation than having to constantly respond to DMCA requests and illegal content.

If you offer good themes and plugins, don't overdo the ads, and don't mind having to respond to DMCA and illegal content requests, then I think you could find a good number of users.

I created my own because I didn't want to lose my work when somebody else folds.

It's private, I do let friends use it. If anybody wants an account, feel free to let me know. I'm not going anywhere.

I could see DMCA being a royal pain in the ass for sure. There's no reason to overdo ads, so many accounts would fit on a single server that it wouldn't take much at all to make a nice profit. Going to check those out and see how much ad space they use for themselves and run some numbers.

Also check out Twan's blogs - all he runs ad-wise is a single non-obtrusive AFF link bar at the top. But then again, thumblogger is really the first name in adult free hosts so it's reasonable to assume there are hundreds of thousands of blogs running his single ad - that must add up to a nice chunk of change.

Good lord, lol.

Oh yeah, I forgot that's why I stopped updating my blogbug blogs :1orglaugh - though if memory serves you can get something less obnoxious by changing what category you want your blog to appear in in their index.
