The SOPA blacks outs are working! Senators dropping like flies!

Quote:

Freshman Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a rising Republican star, was first out of the starting gate Wednesday morning with his announcement that he would no longer back anti-Internet piracy legislation he had co-sponsored. Senator John Cornyn, the Texas Republican who heads the campaign operation for his party, quickly followed suit and urged Congress take more time to study the measure that had been set for a test vote next week.

Good news! I especially like this part:

"Mr. Cornyn, just before 9 a.m, posted on his Facebook page that it was 'better to get this done right rather than fast and wrong. Stealing content is theft, plain and simple, but concerns about unintended damage to the Internet and innovation in the tech sector require a more thoughtful balance, which will take more time.'"

And FB was pretty smart to not go black today because they are getting more people sharing the petition and having status updates protesting SOPA/PIPA probably spreading the word more and faster.

- it won't go through now.

- they will rewrite SOPA so that noone understands a word of it, but it would still be exactly the same. Plus they will rename it from SOPA to something new.

- within 10 years it will be pushed through silently.

Too late. Everyone involved should be thrown out.

Relax people. It's not like they're going to censor you if you say █████ ██ ███ ██████ █████ █████ ████/████ ███'█ ██████ ████████.
██ ████████ ██████ ██████████ ██ ████ ██ ████ ██████████ ██. ███ ███

I laugh out loud that this bill was even written in its current form. Aren't some of these Senators and Representatives ex-lawyers? Who wrote this crap?

If it doesn't pass now, it will pass under another name later. Maybe it will be worse, maybe not. That's how it works.

It's how they should also feel about their proposed pipeline pet project. They were told point blank that 2 months was not enough time to study the impacts of the proposed pipeline and that it needed at least a year, but they've tried to hold their line on that one. Even attaching it to other completely unrelated bills that needed passage. Maybe this will open the gates of reason into the grand old party. But nobody will hold their breath on that one.
