DSLR and 5D SHOOTERS REJOICE THE NINJA IS HERE!!!
I just wanted to go over some of the biggest limitations of the 5D and why I think this product is vital to everyone that shoots with the 5D Mark II
FOCUS PROBLEMS!!! while monitoring focus from the HDMI output from the 5D Mark II it shows 1080 only until you start recording then switches to 480 which is very difficult to see enough detail to focus. I have had many shots ruined due to this limitation. 12 MINUTE LIMIT When the 5D gets hot it shuts off while you are recording with not much warning (I think this is why they have the 12 min limit and the processor gets hot doing the compression. COMPRESSION PROBLEMS The compression that the 5D uses casues artifacts and moire where fine lines are in the picture. This also adds noise to the dark areas/shadows in your scene. The 5D MK II will exit out of live view mode after about 60 sec if your are not recording though

First of all you do not need a 5D MkII to shoot porn video.
The 5DmkII is a still camera with HD video as an addition. You really need to re think what and how you are shooting. No crafty 5D MkII tools will help in your situation. The Canon XF300 is better suited for porn video. |

I did a test with the Sony EX1 and Sony P3 and nano flash recording at 50Mbps and 220Mbps , we edited all our tests in Premiere making split screens of all the shots.
We then made a Blu ray disk at maximum bit-rate, and watched it projected on a HD projector. The was no noticeable difference between the two cameras or the Nano flash at 50Mbps and 220 Mbps. The Sony cameras are designed to be used as video cameras. The camera used is not as important as the skills of the person lighting and using the camera. Using still cameras are just too much of a pain. We shoot in HD because our films are shown on cable as well as Internet. |

Switch to nikon, it is much better, but not for gonzo, serious producers only,,,

I shoot porn with a Canon XF305 because of the 50mbps and the 422. Great camera love the feel and the movement of it. It complements the way I shoot. Loved it so much I picked up the Canon XF105 which does just about the same thing as the XF305 but very compact. Use that for POV and 2nd camera for certain types of shoots. The best thing about both of these cameras is that they work off of the same custom color profiles. I just move them from one camera to the other via SD card. For stills I use a Nikon D3, but my D4 comes in February 15th. I am at the top of that list. Been on that list before there was a list. But my D4 will primarily be used for stills only. But the video option is pretty cool if I need it. |

My HMC150 footage looks grainy, not as sharp as 7D/GH2 and the colors don't look as good as 7D/GH2. Now this may be because Panasonic cams never work well with fluorescent lights, it always results in some green cast which can be corrected in post production, I see it in my GH2 footage as well. But before selling my HMC150 I will do some more test shooting, also outdoors. Like I said, I used it for one shoot only which isn't enough for a final verdict. |

1st of all Jay Rock is totally correct. Focusing on even the Marshal monitor that is not HD sucks.
2nd of all, the guy who started talking about the C300 is full of it. There are real commercials and features being shot on the 5D MK2. The sensor is larger than the C300 and technically speaking anyone that knows about using those cameras would be shooting Cinema Primes not Canon still lenses. PS The C300 sensor, along with the Arri Alexa and the Red Scarlets are Super 35, which sensor sizes is much smaller than the 5D, its actually almost exactly the size of the Canon 7D - which by the way is exactly the size of the C300's sensor. Which gives you a huge difference in the performance of your lenses. My 2 cents, use what you like, don't use industry standards to dictate what you shoot on. There are no perfect tools. Use what is right for the job. |
