Question to those who use Google Adsense/Those who have lost their Adsense account(bonus kitty pic)

After some testing I am considering using Adsense on some high traffic/less focused sites of mine to replace some cpm networks that have recently taken a dive.

That being said, I fear that it might open me up to click fraud by competitors/invalid clicks/account termination. This is something I have never worried about before as the income from Adsense was small enough to absorb if lost due to account termination.

So, have you lost an Adsense account before?
What are your stories of canned accounts, account restoration etc. ?

I am aware of the google guidelines and my content/banner placement reflects that.

hit or miss with those guys.. google doesn't do reconsideration very well, so once you are canned its pretty hard to get back..

I had an account terminated , contacted them many times , they never responded. So i setup a new account , same name , same info, sent an email letting them know my old account had been terminated yada yada , i got a template driven response like " let us know if you need any additional help". That was several years ago.

Since that time i have received a half dozen "warnings" for various "violations" and everytime i have responded and explained the situation and they never respond. I ask for procedural questions also and they never respond.. account is open and they continue to pay via ach despite the warnings.

i think it's basically how diligent/lazy your affiliate manager is and you have no choice in picking them so..

There use to be a program that filtered invalid clicks, wouldn't show ads if someone clicked more than a set number of times... I think it isn't supported anymore though.

I had a site that got slammed by a competitor. Google got in touch they were helpful, never threatened to closed the account, at worst if I couldn't sort it out they would disable ads on that particular site not close the account...I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for info Smokey!

That sounds quite reasonable from their side. Would you say you had a larger volume of income than your average hobbyist who they might just can to save time?

Thanks for your input!

I got my adwords account canned and now they won't let me back in.

I tried signing up as my girlfriend from her house and her computer ... The sites were all new and mainstream... Google somehow knew we were together and canned her account too!

Amazing algorithms over there!

Wow, serious? That sucks! Did they give reasons for account canning?

Did you find a good replacement for adsense to monetize those sites?

What was the reason you lost your adsense account? Was it because you had it attached to an adult site perhaps?

In keeping with the theme of this thread, here is a cat on a computer.

If that question was directed at me:

I did not lose my adsense account but am asking about people who have or have and been reeinstated.

Thanks for the kitty:)

Higher than average hobbyist sure, wasn't a whale though.

The confusion here is if we are talking about adsense or adwords, monetizing your site or advertising.

Adwords bans you at a whim like they did to SmokeyThebear. they don't like the wording of an ad, content of a landing page...bam you're banned.

Adsense bans when there is proven fraud, they work with you if there is a problem.

I was under the impression that everyone in this thread was talking about Adsense / monetizing sites, including Smokey as he speaks of receiving payments.:upsidedow

It does seem that Adsense treatment varies from person to person.

Sorry I meant V_Rocks. Actually proves the point, Adwords bans you and never lets you back in. Adsense sends warnings, emails..keeps on paying. Just don't click on your own ads.
