I just dont understand how anyone who does business online would want the internet regulated, yes copyright theft is a problem, so is petty theft in the real world and its very very common, but letting the US government start passing major restrictive and broad regulation on all denizens of the internet is a fucking nightmare scenario.

BIGTYMER 01-21-2012 02:09 PM

Congrats to all the winners!

You self important d-bag, you film naked whores, you are not an "artist" you are nothing more than a b-movie pimp. What fucking "value" does your art provide society, seriously no one in any government will think twice about making laws to throw people like you in jail.

You have mechanisms in place to protect your content, you also have laws in place to retrieve damages as long as you prove in a court of law that a pirate has stolen from you. Heres the real story none of you hustlers wanna BE IN A COURT OF LAW because the judge will fucking laugh at you and say "serves you right".

DWB 01-21-2012 02:29 PM

Don't you want to download the music you buy, like you do on iTunes? I don't understand the need to keep them online.

AdultKing 01-21-2012 02:30 PM

What the OP and some others fail to realize is that Google have an agreement with major labels and have already established Artist Hub to handle smaller labels and independents.

Google also pays rights royalties in a way similar to radio stations for accessed music.

So really Google Music is nothing like Megaupload. Google pays royalties, Megaupload had a business model specifically designed to profit from intellectual property without paying for it.

Because every big business knows that cloud is the future, if they can eliminate any competition beforehand even by paying off officials they will do it.

Not sure why half of you idiots havent realized that there is a need for a porn cloud, obviously megaupload fullfilled that for a long time.

Mutt 01-21-2012 02:32 PM

That is all irrelevant. This is about intellectual property and theft.

Tell that to Corbin Fisher, and he producers gay porn. He cleans their clocks in court and no one laughs at him.

The more you open your mouth the more you show how little you know about the industry, how it operates, the laws governing it, and the people involved. For your own sake, you may want to put a lid on it to save yourself any further embarrassment.

Your attempt at being a troll is quite sad. You're trying too hard.

Originally Napster paid NO ROYALTIES, it was only after the original service shut down and a revised model was adopted that any agreements were entered into. By that stage Napster was no resemblance of what it was.

If you spent more time reading and less time spewing your half witted poorly informed crap then you'd have more of a clue.

Splum 01-21-2012 02:38 PM

My point is that they are now trying to pass blanket laws that cover everything even remotely linking to anything copyrighted could be a jail sentence. All because the "content producers" are too fucking stupid to realize how to make money WITH THEIR content on the internet.

Splum 01-21-2012 02:41 PM

I actually hope that bills like SOPA, PIPA and the upcoming protect children from porn act all pass.

You think your industry is hurt by tubes, wait till the US government gets a hold of you people.

Just like I don't comprehend why someone would want to look at porn on their phone, I don't understand why they would store music online. That said, that doesn't mean people are dumb for doing it, I just personally don't get it. People will do what makes sense to them. If Joe Public thinks it's better to store his music, movies, mail, files, and private info online, so be it. I hope for his sake they don't pull a MegaUpload on his ass.

Most everyone in the hetro market either doesn't sue or settles out of court. Not to mention, you need money to take something like that on and big lawsuits are beyond a lot of people's reach. Corbin has a lot of money and goes after assets. He's a smart guy.

It's not about being afraid or not afraid, it's about having the money to see it through. Corbin's attorney could be hired if someone had the money to do it and a case worth winning.

So now it's only theft if that which is stolen is "art" that you consider somehow worthy of your respect?

Nevermind that thieves will, and do, steal anything and everything.

Your argument is as empty as your head.

DWB, You should contact Corbin's attorney. I met him at INternext. If you copyright your stuff as an owner, he will go after the thieves FOR FREE. He gets a cut of course...But he will nail their asses. Pirates are such whiny little bitches. He had some funny stories about how they beg and cry....and pay.

What scares me is they are trying to tweak the definition of internet protocol to be intellectual property... that should really be what scares you, their vision.

Larceny or theft definition implies permanent removal of said tangible property.

Quote:

In the United States, larceny is a common law crime involving theft. Under the common law, larceny is the trespassory taking and carrying away (asportation, removal) of the tangible personal property of another with the intent to deprive him or her of its possession permanently.

Bah who needs megaupload!

This is the google version of iTunes (see the full integration with Android 4), if the service is successful you'll need to drop money for every bit of music.
