Today's NFL Championship games picks.

I'm picking Baltimore and San Francisco with Baltimore winning the Super Bowl. Ed Reed or Ray Lewis Super Bowl MVP in a defense led win.

.

The Truth Hurts 01-22-2012 11:51 AM

giants in a close game. pats in a blowout.

pats win sb.

Mutt 01-22-2012 11:53 AM

i'm taking New England and the Giants. but wouldn't surprise me if your picks won. these teams are all good and none of them are great.

Scott McD 01-22-2012 11:56 AM

49ers and Patriots for me !!

L-Pink 01-22-2012 11:56 AM

lol, so far everyone has the exact opposite picks.

.

kane 01-22-2012 12:06 PM

So long as either the 49ers or the Ravens get to the Super Bowl I'll be happy. I hate the Pats and the Giants so I want to have someone to root for other than the commercials.

Rothstein 01-22-2012 12:18 PM

Pats and Giants.

Spunky 01-22-2012 12:20 PM

Giants and Patsies.Giants win the bowl

baddog 01-22-2012 12:25 PM

It is the 49er's . . . nothing else matters.

dynastoned 01-22-2012 12:41 PM

ravens > pats, giants > niners

ravens > giants

ravens are champs

dynastoned 01-22-2012 12:44 PM

they are all awesome teams though so i think this is going to be a great day of football and every game could go either way.

I like the way your thinking !

DateDoc 01-22-2012 01:01 PM

49ers & Pats but I'd like to see the Ravens win so we can have the Harbaugh Bowl.

oscer 01-22-2012 01:04 PM

Ravens all the way !

L-Pink 01-22-2012 03:15 PM

Yes, Ravens in the lead!

.

L-Pink 01-22-2012 04:11 PM

Batted out of the receivers hand in the end zone!!! THEN miss a 32 yard kick! Fuck Me!!!

.

baddog 01-22-2012 04:18 PM

49ers all the way.

The way I saw it the receiver caught the ball and got two feet down. At that instant it should have been a touchdown just like when Brady stretched out over the goal. If a Defender had knocked it out of Brady's hand they would've called it a TD. Its a really close call but the difference is a trip to the Super Bowl.

oscer 01-22-2012 04:22 PM

Now that game was awful ... who misses a field goal that badly ... i think someone needs a pink slip

kane 01-22-2012 04:36 PM

Crap, Pats win. Go niners.

I thought both feet were down as well.

.

baddog 01-22-2012 04:50 PM

He did not have control.

2ndxachrm 01-22-2012 04:59 PM

pats pull off a close win, they almost lost it but big play by their d in the end zone. Come on Giants!

vdbucks 01-22-2012 05:05 PM

The 49ers better win. I'd like to be able to at least enjoy the superbowl this year.

With the packers' (my favorite team for 20 or so years) embarrassing loss last week, and the Ravens' (my home team) loss today... I'm left with the 49ers who are starting off strong so I'm hoping they take it today.

The receiver had full control and the ball didn't bobble one bit.

Full control and putting two feet down after the catch shows possession and at that instant
it should be a TD. If the ball had bobbled at all I would be fine with the call made but it didn't move and was secure in his arms when he put two feet down.

Not in the end zone. You're talking about a play going out of bounds. In the end zone he has to maintain control throughout the play.

For a TD all the player needs is possession of the ball when it breaks the plane of the end zone. Like I said about the Brady QB sneak. All he had to do was jump up and stretch the ball over the plane of the goal line. Once the ball is across the plane its a TD and it doesn't matter if a defender hits it out of his hand before Brady lands on the ground. I don't see why that catch was any different.

A run and a pass are not the same. He did not maintain control.

And if the ball would've been knocked out of Brady's hands before he hit the ground, crossing the plane or not, I'm pretty sure it would have been a fumble.

I am sorry, but the only way he has control is if you are watching it in slow motion. In real time, nope.

Define control as per the NFL rule.

And you're wrong about the Brady example.

They use slo mo in all the play reviews. What kind of excuse is that :upsidedow

The rules are different if you are crossing into the endzone with possession of the ball already established (Brady), and if you are trying to catch the ball IN the endzone and establish control.

I'll buy that.

Now define " control "

I say the receiver caught the ball, put one foot down followed by the other while maintaing control of the ball. At that instant it should be ruled a TD. Granted it happened very fast but with the aid of slow motion he did that.

The NFL has a rule as to what constitutes a catch.

What is that rule and how does it differ from what happened on that play?

I would've at least thrown a red flag and challenged it. Obviously the coach, Refs and commentators didn't see it my way. I'm just trying to figure out how I'm wrong and just how close it came to being a TD. It was a really important judgement.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the play happened with less than 2 minutes left. Can't challenge after the 2 min warning for 2nd and 4th quarters.

vdbucks 01-22-2012 07:54 PM

Going to go ahead and call BS on that last play... Ref blew the whistle after the ball was already loose. Should've been ruled a fumble.

edgeprod 01-22-2012 08:35 PM

Please give me your superbowl picks so I can bet against them.

Jman 01-22-2012 08:54 PM

Great gamne but no surprise Giants won ;)

kane 01-22-2012 08:57 PM

Well, those two games sucked. Looks like I will be rooting for there to be good commercials during the game.

man the ravens beat up the patriots in every way possible today and still lost somehow. then to lose on a dropped touchdown pass and a blown chip shot field goal. ahhhhh that hurts...

ayo baddog i guess i wasn't too stoned eh? lolol

i figured alex smith would be the reason they couldn't win. he had his two big plays to davis and he didn't turn it over. but he can't sustain drives because he doesn't complete enough passes. i don't think they converted one 3rd down all game. that is straight up a QB issue. they definitely have a championship caliber team but they need to address the QB position. i have a feeling they'll be back with that defense which will only get better. :2 cents:

StickyGreen 01-22-2012 11:48 PM

Alex Smith fucking sucks...

and that guy Williams #10 is a piece of shit...

Spunky 01-22-2012 11:52 PM

Close games either way.the missed field goal and the slap out TD..makes some great football
