Will New Gingrich ask Sarah Palin to be his running mate?

Noooooo! er.... Yesssss...!!

Quote:

Newt Gingrich seems poised to inject some 2008 flavor into his 2012 presidential campaign.

In a CNN interview set to air on Wednesday, the former House speaker is prepared to ask Sarah Palin "to play a major role" in his administration, a producer from "The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer" tweeted.

Gingrich's interest in Palin comes hours after the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate had some supportive words for his campaign. In a Tuesday Fox News interview, Palin said "If I were a South Carolinian, I would vote for Newt" to keep the primary process going.

I really hope he does. I really really hope he does.

Rothstein 01-22-2012 12:40 PM

no way in hell but Perry maybe.

DateDoc 01-22-2012 12:50 PM

Perry is dumber than Palin. Out of the 2 I'd say chose Palin.

GregE 01-22-2012 01:01 PM

If Gingrich wants to make sure that he loses he will, otherwise no way.

Gingrich is a lot of things but stupid ain't one of them.

Bryan G 01-22-2012 01:03 PM

As an outsider watching this. How the hell can the republicans not come up with better candidates?? I don't get it.

A lot of people wanted NJ's Governor Christie to run but he decided not too. He probably will next time and by then Rubio may be ready for a Presidential bid too.

He doesn't need Palin because he pleases the Christian right himself. He needs a moderate because that's what he is not. It will be Gingrich/Romney or vice versa.

Don't know why I never considered Gingrich/Romney before (probably because they going at each other so hard) but that WOULD be a formidable ticket :thumbsup ...hell even vice versa could work

Say HELLO to 4 more years of OBAMA

Next stop: Full Scale Amnesty for 12 million undocumented immigrants.

This issue has to be dealt with. You can't forcibly repatriate this many people. Logistically impossible. Somebody has to deal with this.

I don't think they like each other much, and can you really run with someone you called an idiot just months before?

Most likely.

mikesouth 01-22-2012 02:17 PM

Newt is a moron but he isnt THAT stupid

how many campaigns would she have to sink before the GOP got it that she is toxic

TisMe 01-22-2012 02:29 PM

I didn't think McCain was that stupid either.

But he was.

That's a damn good question.

I really think that the Republicans gave away the last election because they knew it was nothing but difficult times in the White house with the economy, etc. They put up McCain (who looks like he might die at any moment) and Palin? PALIN? Come on.....

Because the people with the ideals that fit the average American are average Americans.
You know. People with actual down to earth common sense.
You have to be either famous or rich.
Famous and rich does not = Average American.
That's my take on it.

Palin's nomination was a brilliant move by McCain, really the only thing that saved his campaign from being totally boring.

But Barry Soetoro bamboozled us with promises of milk and honey flowing in the streets, if we would just vote in his socialist utopia. Free healthcare will save us money! Open debates on C-SPAN! Stimulus I will invigorate the economy! Stimulus II will provide jobs! It sure was a slick presentation. The Europeans loved him too! I didn't fall for it, but millions of Americans DID. Who was the stupid one/ who was the liar?

Choker 01-22-2012 04:55 PM

If he does say goodbye to winning. I kinda liked Perry though.

kane 01-22-2012 05:04 PM

Newt is smug and egotistical and if he wins the nomination he will think he is bulletproof, but I can't imagine he is dumb enough to bring Palin on board. As others say in this thread he needs a more moderate running mate to help him bring in the independents. I don't think it will be Romney. It could be Christy if he can convince him. If he doesn't go for it than I think he will get some lesser known more moderate person.

Matt 26z 01-22-2012 05:09 PM

Just a publicity stunt by Newt.

He'll pick someone fairly unknown. His fellow candidates are all lightning rods. He can't ask any of them.

brassmonkey 01-22-2012 05:12 PM

yeah if he wants to go over into comedy sure. :)

Agreed. The choice of Palin sank McCain. I can't imagine Gingrich making the same mistake.

Could he pick Romney or Perry? I think so. Such a move wouldn't be unusual. Biden was a minor challenger to Obama. Given the traditional role of "attack dog" that vice presidential candidates take, Christie might fit the role well. He would have no problem dating the things that the presidential candidate can't say himself.

Phoenix 01-22-2012 05:37 PM

if he does then i say jon stewart is running the show...because im sure he already has jokes written for that..lol

Don't forget, Gingrich is a swinger... a ladies man. Palin is as dumb as a post but him I bet she's pretty hot. I saw Gingrich on TV when he said that and I could have sworn he said it in a flirty way. Maybe he's looking for wifey #4, or at least the same hummers in the oval office that he impeached Clinton for.

bronco67 01-22-2012 07:03 PM

Why not? It worked out well for McCain.

Is it fucked up that there is a part of me that wants to see a Newt/Palin sex tape?

Yes.

I'd have to watch it too just to understand how fucked up you are and warn others of course.

That would make him a hypocrite.

Oh wait he was having an affair at the same time as Clinton while he was speaker of the house.

Christie won't run in this election. He supported Romney early and NJ is not a plum state electorate wise and having Christie on the ticket doesn't guarantee NJ. So Newt won't want him and Romney needs a different part of the country.
look for either eventual winner to ask Rubio first and then work their way thru ohio and pennsylvania to find someone.
Either guy beats obama. The earners of this country (even small ones) have had enough of his nonsense.

cute how many uninformed canadians work these threads.

um, they are Republican Politicians. I don't think ANY of them like each other, let alone themselves. :1orglaugh

cherrylula 01-23-2012 07:05 AM

I don't care what anyone says in this thread... he's not gonna pick anyone you think, and he's not gonna pick a woman, watch.... he's gonna pick a black guy. I'd put big money on that. LOL

Politics are so easy to read because mostly ran by men. So predictable. lol

Paul Markham 01-23-2012 07:10 AM

He might do. Will his wife agree to a 3some? LOL

Yep, whoever wins is likely to pick a governor or senator or even recently retired guy from a state/area where they could be a weak.

As for either guy beating Obama, I'm not so sure of that. I have said before the election is Obama's to lose. If the unemployment level continues to drop and is in the low to mid 7's by election time Obama will be tough to beat if he runs his campaign correctly. However, if the unemployment level hovers somewhere in the area it is in or gets worse again he is very vulnerable.

I think the unemployment "rate" won't matter as much as how many people are actually unemployed.
obama and the left may be able to fool some people into thinking that unemployment is going down but he won't be able to fool those who are unemployed.

That is true. They do massage the numbers to make things look better than they are. As with any election it isn't really what is true or accurate, but what you can convince people of being true or accurate.
