I need an entry level SLR Camera
Do any of you photography guys have an older camera you are willing to part ways with? They are all over CList and those idiots owners want 90% of what they paid for it. Looking for a Canon or a Nikon.
|
SLR are unbelievably cheap these days. Over the holiday period I picked up a Nikon in the sales for about 60% of its usual cost. I bet if you look around online you will find fantastic deal making acquiring a second hand unnecessary.
|
Get a Canon Rebel they're like $500 and work great. If you like Nikon get a D5000 or a D7000 which in my opinion is the best choice for quality!
You can get a used d200 for cheap and is still a good camera |
Given the low prices of entry level digital SLR's why would you even consider secondhand ? If you find a secondhand camera that's been dropped, or has an image sensor problem that only shows up after the camera 'warms up' then you'd just be out of money and have an expensive paperweight.

Canon T3i or T2i
Quote:
I have a Canon Rebel T1i, a T2i and just got a T3i. The kit lens is really basic basic entry level, but the 50 mm prime lens is great. If you are willing to "zoom with your feet". Unless you know where you get things from, getting new stuff is safer. The price difference is small. $ 544, I believe, with kit lens. Almost the same as t3i except for some movie features and lack of swivel screen. Nothing wrong with Nikon, I just happen to have lots of Canon lenses. |

I guess I need to buy one with video as well.

Me and my fiancee got the Canon T2i before Christmas, don't know shit about SLRs but it came highly recommended. We love it so far, she took a 3 hour class to learn all the cameras features. Later on she will do more classes to get specific with it.
