KODAK is officially DEAD

They got stuck in time. They didn't evolve. That is what happens when a company (big or small) or person (big or small) doesn't adapt to new times.

Something very interesting is this:

"In the late 2000s, Kodak also turned to aggressive patent litigation in order to generate revenue."

Just a signal of when something is failing and going to DIE SOON.

Take that in mind. :pimp

What chapter of Bankruptcy did they file?

michael.kickass 01-23-2012 08:38 AM

Can't be surprised about it.

candyflip 01-23-2012 08:39 AM

There were a bunch of people going into the offices when I drove by their Headquarters 2 hours ago.

Scott McD 01-23-2012 08:42 AM

Yup, saw that one coming to be honest...

nikki99 01-23-2012 11:27 AM

Actually they did evolve and develop amazing advances in film stock. After all it was the way HD quality was produced over 50 years.

I also understand they did lots of research into digital recording.

I don't think it is as simple as "adapt or die" slogans quite often there are factors beyond a companies control.

Companies should die though. If the prodcut you make is no longer needed do you have the right to take shareholders money and just try other things?

some industries spin off the income stream that is destined to end so you can milk the income stream. They probably should have done the same.

too old...

blackmonsters 01-23-2012 02:28 PM

LOL!

Behind the times my ass.

The death of Hollywood through piracy killed Kodak.

One 70 mil slomo shot used more fucking film then an entire city of shitty photographers.

:1orglaugh

OK, I admit I don't know what I'm talking about but it's probably true anyway.

Pretty amazing reign they had. I worked in a commercial photolab back in the 80's using lots of Kodak (and Agfa) machines. From splicing machines to cine machines to printers. And yes, there was sex in the darkrooms. Good sex.

Oh yeah, RIP Kodak.

tony286 01-23-2012 03:29 PM

They invented digital camera technology and it was their own un doing.

How is it more complicated?

They didn't think film would die. They were wrong.

They are now dead.

Ace_luffy 01-23-2012 03:39 PM

sometimes , selling patent to your competitor will be killing you back.... and DIE!

Why 01-23-2012 04:06 PM

they were also one of the worlds worst polluters, had they paid their fines, they would of been bankrupt years ago.

AJHall 01-24-2012 12:20 AM

It's sad. So many companies that were such a big part of our lives growing up are now history. Next I bet they'll announce that Kleenex has been put out of business by some newer, better, digital nose wipeys.

calvinawe 01-24-2012 02:29 AM

Ironic - didn't they come out with the first digital camera?

BIGTYMER 01-24-2012 03:35 AM

The Kodak Zi6 is a cool lil camera.

Very true.

J. Falcon 01-24-2012 04:56 AM

"Kodak Moment" was one of the best slogans/advertising lines ever created.

Not sure if they had the first consumer model, but a Kodak employee did invent the digital camera in his basement in the late 70s. Because he was under contract with Kodak, anything developed in his personal time was Kodak's.
