I saw some idiot selling his download site because "he had to focus on school" but all of his links were to fileserve and some other busted pos. One more pirate porn site and months of work down the drain.

Shooshtime has been making my anti-virus go mad for months now.

Cystomatic 01-23-2012 03:42 PM

I think people will just find other upload sites and upload it to them than share it on these forums.

Expect a huge surge in legal tube traffic for sites that allow embeddable videos.

legal Tube owners: start embedding ads into your tubes

Paul Markham 01-23-2012 03:54 PM

More good news. Would be great if SOPA were not needed.

Let's do some searching on Alexa to see the last weeks traffic.

$5 submissions 01-23-2012 04:01 PM

Actually, it's too early to celebrate since PEOPLE ARE NOW ADDICTED TO "FREE" CONTENT. If you pay attention to those forums, most are switching to TORRENTS

Not like there's no precedent for that. JAV forums are notorious for this route. People were just using the MU type sites cuz there was more money going that route.

Just Alex 01-23-2012 04:41 PM

Id Oron goes down it will bring most porn scraping forums down.

Imagine if they took down the pirate bay...there would be a whole new internet, no torrents, no files, nothing but pay or don't jerk off :1orglaugh

Update:

VISA: Dead
update.microsoft.com: All files deleted
Download.com: Can only Download YOUR OWN files

AAB 01-23-2012 09:33 PM

This basically opens up huge fields of opportunities for newcomers. Lots of money to be made by whoever can offer a substitute for big players millions of people were using on a daily basis.

GetSCORECash 01-23-2012 10:15 PM

The links are getting switched out, and I've noticed a couple of dot es domains that are new lockers/streaming services.

Fletch XXX 01-23-2012 10:34 PM

one thing sucks is genuine bands self promoting use these type of services to get their albums out, i happen to download quite a bit of unheard of shit that bands themselves put out because they dont have hosting for albums of material and sure enough, now their stuff is down because of this,... i hate seeing artists suffer because of big royalty collecting legal battles. there are countless blogs dedicated to this type of music trading, yet everyone suffers....

file sharing is not evil people come on.

He used to be a solid guy.

DarkJedi 01-24-2012 07:40 AM

Imagine if they closed some huge Tube down, all the other tubes would shit their pants and disband.

Damn, that would be that day..

Maybe if everyone banded up and focused on taking down one big tube, the fight on stolen porn could be won.

They can go to YouTube.com and get more exposure.

People are adapting People are dying.

NetHorse 01-24-2012 10:36 AM

This is good news, but we won't see a huge spike in our bottom line. The damage has been done.

The people screaming, 'adapt or die' were right, because things will never go back to what they used to be. Don't forget the LEGITIMATE tubes with free HD full length content they own the rights too.

That's where we might see an explosion. Large network sites that offer cheap monthly memberships might see an increase in their bottom line too.

The day the piratebay is closed will be the beginning of the end for public torrent sites.

That's a good point worth noting. These companies can just start fresh again, and now with a lot less competition.

Either way, it's still a good thing. The uploaders are the true enemy here, millions of their links are now wiped from the internet. Even if new companies rise, the threat of them being taken down is now a reality. That threat might keep uploaders from spending countless days re-uploading stuff to a new site.

I totally agree with the above statement. They keep saying that they can't be shot down but i honestly think their days are numbered.

Rapidshare and hotfile are still up and running, hotfile is even still paying for downloads (but only if you're legit and sharing your own files, coupla DMCAs and you're fucked). Not to mention Youtube, and the rest of the options to post your music if you want to share it free with your fans and to promote yourself.

And yes vurtual hosting is $5/month nowadays, you can alsways have your own site setup and let ppl download your music from there. Mp3s are not huge bw burners, unless you're lady gaga which you arent.

True. However, many web hosting companies do not allow that sort of use. I would recommend you read their T.O.S. before signing up. Otherwise, you risk losing all of you music collection, plus time and hassle, or simply get to enjoy the aggravation of hopping from host to host trying to pull it off for $5.00.

You hit the nail on the head. These filelockers created an industry for people uploading pirated content for profit, with so many sites disappearing overnight a lot of those uploaders may just decide to do something else to make money after seeing their income completely disappear overnight.

This business model is dead now :2 cents:
