The occupy movement in Amsterdam and similarity to online piracy

I was a fan of the OWS movement... until this week. The Occupy movement in Amsterdam had squattered the old office of Shell, and in a few weeks time they turned it into an open sewer, destroyed everything, and stripped off all copper wiring and piping, to sell it. A Dutch news show called Powned covered these practices during a few weeks, this week they showed copper thieves in action and getting arrested by the police. These videos are also on www.geenstijl.nl probably.

Today the Amsterdam police finally wiped clean the building, but it was much too late, the rats saw it coming and most had already left the building, only two refused to go and got arrested.

Fuck this whole Occupy thing. These are just people who are as greedy as everybody else, but who are too stupid to get anywhere in life. They aren't freedom fighters, they don't care about equal rights, they're just frustrated that they didn't make it, and they're jealous. I see a lot of similarities with online content pirates, they come with this same bullshit about freedom, an open internet, the right to share information, but the bottom line is the same as with the Occupy crap: they are greedy. They want to get as much music, games and porn as possible without paying for it. That has nothing to do with freedom and sharing of information.

People in the USA or Europe not having a job but still having a home, a TV, a DVD player, a PC, and most important, food and access to health care need to shut up. I'm even getting my second thoughts about these "freedom fighters" in Libya and Syria. Is it really about freedom or is it about financial greed and power?

What is these are actualy paid for activists by the elites to give anyone oposing the current fascistic system a bad name?
Your comparison is very general but while the general public will be blocked from information with copyrights as excuse you dey the general public the right to protest the regulation of information only because a few bad apples.
You seem very pro copyrighting information and stuff.
What if you can not use word like face and book anymore because they are cpyrighted by corporations?
What if the government decides to re-copyright old works like mozart en darwin etc etc.... (wich they are writing laws for at this time).
Using a quote from old works you never knew were re-copywrited and end up paying a huge fine, or have your internet cut off.
Nice New World this is gonna be.

Had nothing to do with the Occupy movement in Amsterdam. It were a bunch of east Europeans who stripped off all copper wiring and piping. They were arrested.

I am pro content protection, not against sharing information.

If they lie about it, that would be really pathetic and it won't do them much good.

come on now, powned news is as much a news station as Fox, sensation is what it is all about. If that means spinning a few facts around than so be it :thumbsup

I never really followed them, I kinda discovered them some months ago and thought they are funny but also objective but if what you write is true (and I have no reason to question that), then that's really pathetic. I hope someone will report them to the board for journalists, if they lied about occupy then it would have consequences. By the way I read on the web somewhere that they tried to film some "kutmarokkaantjes" some months ago and these "kutmarrokaantjes" kicked the crap out of them completely and they never showed the definitely sensational footage anywhere. Shows what a cowards they are doesn't it? If you watch the show carefully all they seem to be interested in is bashing semi-retarded people like they are now doing with the pigeon boy. Still I will continue watching their show because it makes me laugh most of the time :thumbsup
