I wonder what they're paying in rent on those cages? Seems like making pretty much any amount of money would be enough to avoid that situation...
|
I'm happier seeing humans in there then dogs.

Are those pictures from like a Peru prison? I thought i saw those on Locked up abroad.

coming to a city near you
|
Pretty shocking, probably better than being on the streets though I would guess.
|
I have stayed in the Chung King Mansion.
Not as bad as those pictures, but an experience. |
I can pretty much lay my head where ever. As long as it's nothing dangerous I can fall asleep.

Someone needs to tell that guy that sitting around moping all day isn't going to put money in his pocket. Oh woe is you, bro. Still, it's sad to think that these people live in these conditions when they're out busting their ass working hard every da.... oh no, wait. :1orglaugh |

Would you believe there are prostitutes who have rooms in buildings like that? I've nailed plenty in shit hole buildings in HK, but the girls were hot.

My takeaway: Be grateful for what you have and realize that it's always not as bad as it seems. Everyone has the seed of greatness in their hands. It all depends on what they do with it. Many of these Chinese migrant workers are the parents of future taipans or laying the groundwork for something big... in the future. The future is built on sacrifice and hard work and self-denial. |
The guy probably was just covering his face from the camera.
In Chinese factories there are dorms like this for the workers, this is probably a factories dorm or building. It's documented on pbs.org in an episode titled China Blue. I think it was an Independant Lens episode. Lots of forced overtime, pennies a day wages, 2 sets of books to show foreign investors who would frown on the actual conditions and their gov. But they had an extra daughter and it was either go to the city to find the job or live an entire life on meager the family home/plot of land. This is how stores can have every day low low prices on things. |

Other than being a bit dirty, I dont see the overall big deal honestly.
If I didn't have much money, I would be happy enough to have a place to sleep and at least store my stuff while I was out working or whatever... The cages I'm sure are to keep their belongings secure while they are gone... each bunk is their personal space, so its like walls/doors for a bigger apartment, just smaller. I could see the landlord spending a bit of money in upgrading the cages to cleaner looking / more modern cages, and painting the walls, cleaning the floors and that place would be great... like a modern hotel in tokyo people pay for at the airports. |

Doesn't look much different than how people live in Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, India ... They are the 99%. You, in your house with a damn yard, are the 1%.
|
Is that public housing for the iPod factory? oops someone beat me to the joke.
Did you hear those people make like 10 dollars a month? |
Quote:
most people working in these factories make around 1600 - 2000 rmb a month wich equals to $250 - $315 a month, wich is quite a good salary |
