It's separation of church and state. The decisions a governor makes should not controlled by religion. If your religion says that you can only eat a certain kind of food, the US government is under no obligation to give it to you.

Why does a state govt. pay to feed seniors in a nursing home anyway? This whole country is becoming a nanny state it seems.

I literally had no idea that when you get old and if you go into a nursing home...then taxpayers suddenly have to give up their money to pay for you to eat. I wonder if all the homeless people know about this scam yet? All they gotta do is check into a nursing home (I'm assuming that these days it must be at taxpayer expense for old people to even check in to one)

What a load of horseshit. My grandfather spent the last couple of years of his life in a nursing home and died at age 90 2 years ago. We paid for everything in that nursing home. From his room, to his care, to his food. If I had only known that the taxpayers would have paid for it AND he could have ordered food like he was in a restaurant I wouldn't have paid a penny...

When you tell blatant lies about someone to make them look bad, you're implying that you think telling the truth would have made them look good. If there was something actually bad about Romney, the OP would have posted it. Finding no actual fault with Romney, the OP posted lies instead.

What Romney vetoed was a bill requiring nursing homes who considered having kosher food catered to instead spend $200,000 operating a kosher kitchen for their sixteen kosher residents. That's $12,500 per year per resident he didn't force them to spend, allowing them to choose to instead have it catered or brought over from a neighboring facility.

I'm sure the standard of care at publicly subsidized nursing homes is much lower than one that is privately funded. I bet they can even request and actually get ::gasp:: kosher food upon request at a private care facility. Maybe even halal!

As smart as you are, I assume that if you wanted to point out that supporters of Gingrich were lying, your headline would have read "Gingrich supporters lie, say Romney had holocaust supporters eat non-kosher".

If you're half as bright as I think you are, you knew most people would read just the headline, meaning you were spreading lies because you have no credible attack on the man. He's not actually perfect - there are valid and honest criticisms to bring up.

Those less fortunate can GFthemselves. Even though they paid taxes all their life. Part of which should be to ensure they are looked after when the time has come that they need this assistance.

I've worked since 1965 and paid taxes ever since then, some of into pension and health care. For the vast majority of that time I never needed either. So 15 to 58 the money was like an insurance policy. Then we all know what happened and I called on the State to back up it's promise of curing me. For the money I had paid into the system. And the State comes up trumps. Free of charge? No I paid the insurance all my working life.

It also helped the less fortunate, less successful and I'm fine with that. I live in a world of "It's about US" not a world of "It's about ME".

Yes taxes are misused, spent badly. Like declaring a war on a country for no real reasons, getting involved in countries where you haven't got a clue what's going on, building dirty great big admin and bureaucratic regimes that cost a fortune and borrowing money that brings your country to the verge of bankruptcy and sometimes into bankruptcy. But that's the fault of the fools who vote for these clowns. Based on reasons I wouldn't vote for someone to run the tap.
