Piratebay prison sentences final, Supreme Court appeal rejected
Sweden's Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will not hear an appeal by three men convicted of helping others commit copyright infringement through the popular file-sharing website The Pirate Bay.
The Stockholm-based court said the sentences ruled by a lower court will therefore stand. Carl Lundstrom has been sentenced to a four-month prison sentence, Fredrik Neij to 10 months and Peter Sunde to eight months. They have previously also been ordered to pay damages of 46 million kronor ($6.8 million). http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505245_1...te-bay-appeal/ |
4-8-10 months not bad :Oh crap
|
Great news!
They're planning to appeal into the european court too, if I'm not mistaken. That means they're not going to jail yet. |

What amazes me is that with so many court convinctions for thepiratebay "founders" them Swedes still cannot shut down the darn thing. They're still working as if nothing happened and mocking us copyright holders at every opportunity. Do they even have a functioning legal system in Sweden? I'm not sure anymore. It looks like nobody gives a damn what courts say in this country. |
It's better than nothing. Let those fucks sit in jail for 3, 4, 10 months or whatever. Next time they get hit it will be much longer.
And every conviction with a rejected appeal seals the fate of future pirates. |

They will be if they are not already, back in business and pushing hard to get that money back.

Love their statements there:
http://thepiratebay.se/blog/204 http://blog.brokep.com/2012/02/01/ma...rdline-kopimi/ ...We read testimonials from people in Syria longing for freedom, thanking us for what we provide. We receive more than 100 visits daily from North Korea and we sure know that they need it. If there's something that will bring peace to this world it is the understanding and appreciation of your fellow man... ...All of the people involved in TPB at some time have been involved in everything from famous leaks projects to aiding people in the arab spring. We?ve fought corruption all over the world. We?ve promoted equal opportunities to poor nations around the globe... And of course you cannot do nothing of the above unless you're seeding a cracked Photoshop or all seasons of Sopranos. |

its called "60-day homicide" - its usually because victims families will not go forward and prosecute out of fear of retaliation. rappers even brag about it in songs. LOL |
Obviously the judges need to speak to our guru Gideon, so he can explain "safe harbor" to them. LOL

Dang, thats a real swedish prison pic? Comfy, good lighting, toilet mere steps from your workspace. Sign me up.

Even if they go to jail, the site will still remain up.? This isn't the same as with the Mega situation as the servers are in Stockholm, Sweden.
|
ACTA will soon be passed in Europe. SOPA/PIPA/ACTA will be passed in the USA sooner or later. It will be the end of the golden days of piracy. The money will dry out quicker for pirates than it did for the porn industry.

the police didn't turn off DHT They set the system so that it was 13 times more likely that a the peers were obtained WITHOUT the pirate bay ever being involved in the transaction and they still got convicted. It doesn't matter if they would have been guilty if the police had done the job right That is a bad precedent to set period. |

Sound very much like a signature I read here on GFY. |
The 60 day murder stuff is talked about a lot in an episode of Gangland on the History channel.. where after hurricane katrina a lot of the New Orleans thugs ended up in Houston and Houston PD was constantly dealing with shootings where the shooters thought they'd only do 60 days in jail.
Oh... and Baddog is a fucking idiot. |
