Tequila Question ?
What is the preferred one , white or amber ? I have noticed more and more tequila shots in Vegas and less Jaeger. Has Jaeger had its day ?

I've always liked Sammy's Cabo Wabo.like 10 bucks a shot but so good

By amber do you mean Reposado = then yes.
Good tequillas: (decent price) Cazadorez Corralejo More pricey: and instead of Patron, drink Don Julio. |
Don Julio Anejo in my opinion is the best quality tequila. It's smooth and actually enjoyable to sip. It's expensive, but it's worth the taste and I never shoot it. White tequila I typically use as a mixer in a margarita.

cabo wabo ftw :thumbsup
(tried blanco and reposado) http://www.thenibble.com/reviews/mai...ottles-520.jpg also few years back a member of this forum recommended me dos lunas which is also awesome (tried blanco only). http://360prototyping.com/images/Gal...ThreeLarge.jpg |

So the question still remains, what's more popular Reposado or Blanco ? |
Any agave! I do love a good chilled silver patron. Cabo is good. Hornitos is good.
A decent cheap tequila is two fingers but its bottom shelf. Jose is an insult to tequila. I like the real shit any day though rather than something mass produced. |
I have no idea what color is more popular, I'm pretty sure the taste will vary brand by brand anyway, but you can't go wrong with either Herradura Anejo or any of the Dos Lunas varieties.

cabo, clear
|
Depends on the brand. The darker tequila is aged longer so generally smoother. The blanco (clear/silver) tastes more like the agave. Reposado (medium age) is usually a happy compromise. Some anejos taste too much like the oak they are aged in.
The exceptions would be cheap tequila like Jose Cuervo that just colors their tequila to look aged. Look for 100% agave on the bottle. Any milagro is good, from the $30 blanco to the $80 extra reserve anejo. Corralejo, Don Julio, Corazon de Agave are all good. The special edition jose cuervo de la familia is actually good but maybe not worth the $150. Cazadores is a good every tequila. |

As a bar owner I can tell you popularity wise Patron Silver (white) outsells all the gold ones combined by 2 to 1. That does't mean I think it's all that great...it is to good tequila what Rolex is to expensive watches...ie decent but very low end.

I didn't know that Sammy sold out on Cabo Wabo.scooped 100 mil out of that venture, very nice
|
I don't drink tequila :pimp
|
Mezcal. Mmmmm....mezcal. :D
As for regular tequila I'm not at all one of those fussy so-called connoiseurs. Pour me a shot of just about any kind and I'll happily down it. And I won't make "tequila face" either. |

Reposado is half way, you can mix it or sip it, a little hard if you're not used to sipping. Aņejo is the darkest and aged the most years, and is very smooth. NOT used to mix at all, just to sip. Aņejo version is usually more expensive than the other two since its aged more years.. |

Golden Tequila here... but I tend to do stupid shit when I drink tequila, so I try to avoid it.... and fail
|
cabo uno is the shit and its extra agave
|
amber with cinnamon and orange. you're less likely to go apeshit from that.

"blanco" or "oro" refers to the color. |
