Mr Pheer 02-02-2012 08:21 PM

Thats almost as cool as this.

BIGTYMER 02-02-2012 08:38 PM

So awesome!

BSleazy 02-02-2012 08:53 PM

Laser or taser. They could figure something out. Military and swat would love that.

Think about the amount of weight that'd add. The power pack alone for the laser ... and the recoil of the taser fire would knock it halfway over. Plus, how are you going to keep the taser wires attached while the rotors are spinning? Not to mention generating enough power for the voltage.

I don't think this size quad is going to be weaponized anytime soon. More likely, they'll be used for infiltration and "on the ground" recon in advance of a ground assault or air strike ... which, honestly, is even more of a cluster-fuck than them firing a pea shooter at you.

Apparently not .. no offense, LOL.

I have a couple of the Parrot AR.Drones at any given time. Fun to fly with my iPhone or iPad, but fragile as all fuck. They constantly break when hitting ANYTHING -- and the "autopilot" is flaky as shit, always running into stuff. They're virtually disposable at $299, but when you go through a couple of them per month, it adds up in a hurry. I've "taught" them to do some neat tricks through the developer extensions, like fly to the mailbox, see if the flag is still up, and then fly back to their docking pad in my garage. Lets me check to see if the mail lady has been here yet. I also have them hover over to my front door to see who's there ... it freaks people out because they're quite LOUD.

I'd recommend picking one (or more) up if you have any interest in the hobby, but understand that you WILL be spending money on them if you fly them regularly -- they DO break easily.

Maybe more like a mosquito swarm that could fly up and inject a toxic payload.

One day these will be used to spy on people.. tiny tiny drones released from long range missles... I bet that is already in the works!

DarkJedi 02-03-2012 02:05 AM

too bad these shits can stay in the air only for a few minutes. fucking batteries are holding this civilization back.

javbucks 02-03-2012 05:38 AM

@thread, indeed... as I said about a week ago, What a great product!

Mr Pheer also noticed a quadrotor large enough to carry a guy on... This would be great for deliveries across areas needing fast & reliable movements :pimp

They could attach poison darts for use in assasinations. DARPA have these things the size of flies already.

If the propellant for the darts didn't add too much weight, sure.

Nano Quadrotors are awesome!

papill0n 02-04-2012 04:08 PM

awesome! :thumbsup

huey 02-04-2012 04:19 PM

Wouldn't need to arm them. Just fly a swarm of them into a jets engine.

Although funny, I'm sure you realize the impracticality and sheer improbability of that. :thumbsup
