Building blogs on subdomains

Is there a loss of SEO traffic if you build blogs on subdomains like keyword.domain.com instead of keyword in domain.com?

I have another question about blogs, what are the useful blog directories to submit your blogs? I have the ones that are available on blog submitter and alternative blog submitter, what are your experience with blog directories?

bean-aid 02-04-2012 01:29 AM

I don't want to sound like a dick here... but shouldn't you know these answers yourself considering the name you chose on this

gfy

board?

AdultGuy 02-04-2012 01:37 AM

I know the theory and considering that it's better to have primary root domain for each blog, but since I don't have any blog on subdomains I asked to know what are the experience from the people who got large networks.

Markul 02-04-2012 01:41 AM

Works fine.

scouser 02-04-2012 01:43 AM

i do find they generally get traffic easier (first few months) if on domain.com/blog. but some domains i still put the blog on blog.domain.com to keep it a bit organised.

depend on the authority of domain.com ,if this sucks is worthless to build subdomains on it

anexsia 02-04-2012 01:52 AM

It works okay, I tested it out awhile back and the subdomains seem to do decent.

AdultGuy 02-04-2012 01:56 AM

Authority of the primary domain? What should be there? Link to sponsor or some blog directory for subdomains?

use an old domain with a good(decent) SERP wich is trusted by SE ,if you don't have one, then just don't waste time with subdomains yet,or if you still want this, just do it but don't expect any result very soon

AdultGuy 02-04-2012 02:19 AM

Alright but usually what do you have on the primary root domain?

This is just an example but what I did for an exgf site was I had the main domain have a blog that was updated twice a week with fresh content and then I had 20 subdomain blogs that would focus on a subniche of exgf porn like exgf cumshots or ebony exgfs.

Of if you were doing a femdom website...you could make the main domain a general femdom niche blog and then make subdomains focused on different subcategories of femdom (like facesitting.yourmaindomain.com and smothering.yourmaindomain.com, etc.

I found that the subdomains didn't get nearly as much traffic as my regular domains got but they still received about 40-50 visitors/daily from Google, times that by 20 and you have a nice 800+ visitors/daily in pure SE traffic.

It works fine for me, no problem getting se traffic to blogs on sub domains

.

is there a way how to manage it via one wordpress install? like having tags setuped on subdomains?

CurrentlySober 02-04-2012 05:04 AM

Hit up user: 'pornblogfreeway'... He's a bit more advanced than you are...

CrocMint 02-04-2012 05:19 AM

I was trying blogs on subdomains and it seemed me they even get indexed significantly later than blogs on domains :(

Waiter 02-04-2012 05:31 AM

works fine for me , only with one domain building a network of all niche subdomains ... But you must pick the right domain ... and for the directories , my blogs are listed with X Blog Submitter and the Twan Directories

AdultGuy 02-04-2012 10:42 AM

What is the limit for links to other blogs and directories? Some sites have like 50 links to other blog directories some only 20 links.

19teenporn 02-04-2012 12:27 PM

I have lots of blogs in subdomains. They get the same ammount of traffic than blogs in their own domain under similar circumstances.

SpaceDoc 02-04-2012 08:22 PM

The subdomains are awesome if you have time to make a lot blogs with your own post text stories or buy some...

AdultGuy 02-05-2012 04:19 AM

so if you run about 20 blogs on subdomains, is it better to install separate wordpress for each subdomain?

Ginn 02-06-2012 03:05 PM

I use multi-site wordpress function and it works just fin for blogs on subdomains.
