Im purposely using a sponsors trademark to rank in Google...

Yea i said it and i know Im intentionally doing it ...I did a search just out of curiosity for a well known sponsor on google and the term "tube" and what google gives me each time no matter where I search from (i have used diffrent locations, ips, and machines), is the sponsor "paying" for the sponsored ad result box then 10 tube sites with the sponsors full length videos.

Out of curiosity i purchased a domain for 99 cent using the exact search term and started adding the programs in question hosted flvs. I currently rank number 2 for this term on some searches, and number 1 on other locations.

Should the sponsor be happy i did this? Or should a cease and desist letter be on its way to my inbox?

BTW if they do tell me to turn over the domain, i wont fight it, but i probably wont promote them any further but I doubt they will care if i do.

some care, some don`t. though if it starts getting serious traffic and sales they will try and take it.

what is it? subwaytube.com?

nasty dollars, duke dollars and naughty america do not allow it. other programs will send you the letter if your domain name is similar to theirs.

nice try..

A better way to do it is using a subdomain. Like http://sponsortrademark.anyshittydomain.com and they won't be able to do anything about that. Except maybe kill your account, but you can always start sending traffic to a similar sponsor if they do that. It's about as easy to rank as it is to rank an EMD.

they would rather have a SERPS in google full of tubes and torrents with free content then sites targeting their domains :error

You don't need to pass an IQ test to be a sponsor. ;)

So...
Option 1: Google SERP filled with pirated content: sponsor makes no money.
Option 2: Google SERP filled with affiliates: sponsor makes money.

I know which one a smart program owner would prefer.

these threads are funny.

gfy will start a riot over a stolen blowjob video, but openly discuss how to use trademark domains to increase traffic.

option 3? lol

You can look at it as the pirated content is actually PROMO content, ADVERTISING their giant video filled member site. And they make 100% of those joins.

vs.

Affiliate pages with link codes where they have to pay out for sales.

I don't know, I think they know what they are doing...lol

interesting thread. :)

What I don't like is when you actually ask a sponsor if they are cool with it and they say no but then you see the rankings and they allow it for other people :\

Yeah, that's annoying but in many cases the sponsors are likely also running those sites. I know that if I were to start a paysite in this climate, I'd do it in conjunction with at least 5 feeder sites to get a head start on page 1.
