Went to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon today (pics)

Yeah, a real marathon with runners and everything. They also have stages set up along the way so the runners can enjoy music along the way. Is a good time for many. They do it for different charities, this time it was CureMito.org. You can see all the pics at GotBaddog.com

Here are a couple shots

That reminds me... I've got to get registered for the upcoming dog walk. Running out of time.

astronaut x 02-20-2012 05:25 AM

Uh... i was expecting to see you IN the marathon.

How boring it must have been to sit and watch this.

They just brought this shit to St. Pete and the race promised x amount of racers and hotel beds, and the city got about 1/4 of what was hyped to them. More taxpayer money down the fucking drain.

I was wondering that too, where does the rock 'n roll come in?

After the race, they have a couple cheesy stupid bands, at the finish line, that you would never want to see.

Ever.

Here is an idea. Go out and run, then take a shower and go see a cheesy band. You'll save about 100 bucks! Hell, skip the shower, show up to watch the band all sweaty and stinky, and it will be just like the rocknroll marathon.

It is called a fundraiser. Each marathon they have has difference charities that benefit. Yesterday, the cause was CureMito.org. The one I covered in October benefited various charities, including ASPCA, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, TASK and St. Jude Hospital.

They also have stages set up along the course, with different bands playing. The location I was set up at had a reggae band. They sounded good and I could see that the runners obviously enjoyed them.

It is sad that you can not see the benefit of helping people you do not know, but some day you may grow up. Doubtful, but one can hope.

As stated above, they have bands all along the route. At the end they have a headliner, which was Sugar Ray. As it was at the Rose Bowl, there was no way I was going to deal with attempting to get in and out of there, especially not for Sugar Ray. My daughter said he put on a nice show.

Why do you go to a non adult event and put it up on your promo site?

Bullshit.

For starters, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, a for-profit national enterprise backed by venture capitalists, was getting $130,000 in subsidies, while the local race promoters have received little to no financial backing from the city or Pinellas County.

Rock ?n? Roll?s primary charity support doesn?t come in the form of checks, but ?allowing? charities to raise money via the race.

Rock 'N Roll run turnout much lower than projected

Maybe someday you will grow up.... oh wait, your old as fuck, and still got yer head in yer ass.

Sounds like a lot of whiners in St Pete. I guess you make a good rep.

In addition, the series was given a date of Feb. 12, which one promoter said was scheduled too soon after her event, the Women's Half Marathon Race Series, slated for Nov. 20.
Scheduled too soon after her event? WTF does that even mean? If it was scheduled a week before her event I could understand the whining, not three months later. :1orglaugh

Who gives a shit about that bitch? Not me. I don't give a fuck!

You said the fucking race was for charity, and I'm telling you, your head is full of fucking turds.

I noticed you didn't want to debate that.
