Anyone have any experience with non-original laptop batteries?

The battery on my Dell laptop recently died and I'm checking out prices to replace it. Dell charges 5x for an original, compared to what I can get one for on eBay. Anyone got any experience with non-originals, how the perform compared to originals? Seems kinda stupid to pay 5x the price only because it's an original Dell...

My brother's daughter has an HP laptop with the same problem. The original went dead and HP wanted like $90 for a new battery when you can get them on ebay for around $15.

He went with the ebay battery and says it is just as good if not better than the original. He has had it about 4 months now and has no complaints.

Thanks, that's helpful.

I buy from Ebay also. Only batteries I have had a problem with are for Cameras, those are hit or miss. Never a problem with a laptop one...

I've only used original replacements. And my replacement Sony battery actually last longer than my original Sony battery.

i need buy one myself, gotta keep my laptop plugged in at the moment LOL

Mine is still working but only lasts about an hour now on this laptop so time for me to get a new one as well.

Going to try a local shop that carries them first and then Ebay if I must.

I've changed my Dell battery with non original. It has slightly less capacity but who cares, there is a big difference in price

Babaganoosh 02-21-2012 06:20 AM

It won't work well for as long as the original did. Still, the price difference is huge so who cares?

Had non-original battery for MSI Wind netbook, worked just fine :thumbsup

I'm running on ebay battery right now with my Dell. Works very well for 6 months already

Everyone told me to use only chargers that came with your lap top. Eventually we ended up with twice as many laptops as we had chargers. So I went to Ebay and bought a bunch. A year later, no problems. Whatever. It's all a scam.

Exactly, I'd be able to afford five non-originals for the price of one original. I'm willing to bet significant amounts on the fact that the non-originals, combined, will last me a lot longer than the original will. Hell, I won't even have the laptop that long anyway.

Get the chinese versions off amazon or ebay they work just fine and who do you think makes them anyways

Keeping a laptop plugged in all the time shortens the life of the battery. The best thing to do is charge the laptop battery and then unplug it when fully charged.

Pull the plug. Your battery will thank you.

New Trent

I just bought one of these for my laptop. Works awesome. In fact, somewhere in there is my review of the battery under V_RocKs!

If you need THIS exact battery I actually have an extra one. They sent me one to review after I gave them a review with the one I bought... Nice company...
