Early Spring cleaning and I found a receipt from 2000 for a Gateway computer. Look at the specs on this dinosaur and the price I paid.

that was a very well spec'ed system for it's time though. I remember rocking an AMD k500 CPU, 128mb ram, 16mb ati-rage pro II graphics and a whopping 2.2 GB "bigfoot" slim hard drive haha

128 MB is not enough for 866 Mhz

started off with ibm thinkpad hooked to the net at 14.4

I remember offering servers with 128 MB, 256 MB, or 512 MB. I'm posting this from a cheap Android phone with similar specs. My low end phone is actually as powerful as the servers we used to use for "big" video sites.

Today Clonebox includes a server with 16GB RAM - more than what a hundred of our old servers had combined.

Real talk... Did you make more money with that computer than you make with the one you own now? :)

I had 1 site back then. It was pretty decent money for an amteur solo site.

Did any of you oldschool guys use Macs back in the day? I can remember hustling on my G3 powerbook :D

Strictly PCs for me, including most of the other webmasters I knew.

I learned programming on an Apple IIe. With a 1Mhz processor and 64K of RAM, you had to write clean, tight code. Got away from Macs during the Windows 3.1 days, though.

I've got some 1996 mac gems in the closet.

Man, can't even remember what computer I had back then. Do remember it being $4k+ :Oh crap
