Resell hosting?

Have you tried it, what do you think?

If you get 20 accounts paying $10 a month that $200 a month ongoing. Do you think you can get 20 accounts in your town?

I used to do reselling a while back. Honestly, you could still make some decent cash on this, but I think the current trend is cloud computing and offering shared hosting/dedi's from a reseller plan might just not be so appealing.

It's nice passive income though, assuming you can keep people using your plans. My recommendation is to offer hosting that caters to a specific niche or something.

It sounds like it would do ok in some local places

I always make a little money each month from it.

Im looking lately also to start with reseller hosting. I have one spare server with hosting i do but don't earn much, i was thinking to go with less users and less money for start. If i give reseller 50 gb space and 500 gb bandwith for 20 euro / month and i get 4-5 users this would be enought for me.

I've made a little bit of money with resell hosting in the past but nowadays business has been better elsewhere. But I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find 20 people.

Exactly you just need a couple account to pay for your own hosting and eventually make a couple hundred extra bucks.

That's a good option but you will get a lot of scamers, you need the payment to make sure they are who they say.

Host gator has a bad rep, there network is slow and there tools are outdated.

I think there is plenty of people that would rather do business with a real person then a hosting machine anyways. Especially local business.

I noticed locally most of my businesses here use yahoo,

I do a niche here in Las Vegas, not mentioning the niche but I bill $240/yr and do annual billing every January and throughtout the year I prorate the newbies to Jan so I don't have to bill but once a year. I give them unlimited everything but its a mainstream offer so I do't do adult hosting on that server but it works well for me. I have been offering it for 5 years but have seen a decline over the last year or so but its free money. Get the right niche and you don't have much support to service.
