Webair Carrier Neutral Cloud: Open Network Access in the Cloud

Webair Carrier Neutral Cloud: Open Network Access in the Cloud - (Another Webair Success Story!)

NEW YORK, NY, Feb 28, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Webair, the leader in hosting solutions, today unveiled their Carrier Neutral Cloud Service, offering clients the flexibility and freedom of a cloud hosting environment while providing total control over all network infrastructure and carrier choices. This groundbreaking new service allows transparent access from cloud environments to thousands of transit and transport providers. Clients can now choose any carrier, multiple carriers, or build custom network configurations and tie it all into their own cloud topology.

In the late 1990s, physical data center infrastructure became disassociated from particular carriers. The result was increased competition among carriers, greater consumer choice among business owners, lower bandwidth costs and more reliable services. Then cloud computing came along and businesses were choosing between the computing scalability of the cloud or the network freedom of physical infrastructure. Now, by offering scalable cloud computing services with complete carrier neutrality, Webair gives clients the best of both worlds.

Webair Carrier Neutral Cloud services are currently available on Webair's NY Cloud nodes and will be rolled out in all other markets during the coming months. Webair clients can procure direct transit and transport services from hundreds of carriers. Similar to collocation clients, public and private cloud customers will be able to order connectivity directly from carriers via Webair's cloud cross connect platform leveraging meet-me rooms in 111 8th Ave., 60 Hudson St., 25 Broadway, and Telx's Ethernet Exchange.

Customers utilizing Webair's Carrier Neutral Cloud can configure any combination of transit or transport providers to directly connect to their computing infrastructure. This allows businesses with already established carrier relationships to utilize them in cloud in a truly open access cloud environment. Clients can choose to work with providers based on metrics that matter to them such as latency, route preferences, proven stability, or cost. Clients can further save money by aggregating commitments and consolidating contracts.

"Webair's revolutionary Carrier Neutral Cloud removes barriers and provide clients with the unique ability to custom build a truly multi-homed cloud environment using any carriers they prefer," said Michael Christopher Orza, President of Webair. "Put simply, our clients can finally take full advantage of all of the benefits of dynamic cloud hosting infrastructure without giving up any of the freedom to control their own network configurations."

Now is the time to take advantage of modern cloud computing services without the limitations of being tied to any one bandwidth provider. For more information about the Webair Carrier Neutral Cloud please visit

This is cool!
My internet provider allows me to do this for my piddly home internet connection and it's great - while I can't switch DSLAM cos I'm wired into that, once I get to a POP (10km from my DSLAM) I can chose the carrier meaning if I'm doing/surfing US stuff I chose X, French stuff I stick with Y, and east of me I chose Z.

Doing this though with a cloud setup is just awesome - if you know your market, you can seriously hit a home run with this.

How do you route inbound traffic through a specific carrier or carriers? Wouldn't each customer need their own /24?

The client would procure connectivity directly from multiple providers and deal with it directly from those providers. They can (or we can) setup virtual routers to run BGP to multiple providers.

to make sure I understand this correctly, if I got a cloud server with this service, could I potentially have a few interfaces, each directly connected to another carrier like GBLX, Level3, Peer1, HE?

interesting idea..

Exactly, keeping in mind that the Webair Network has on-net locations in every major hub in NYC, not to mention our other facilities located in Amsterdam, Montreal, & Cali as well, allowing us (and our clients) access to literally thousands of carriers.

:thumbsup
